Reading the whole sentence.

"Then you were born, and we agreed that the three of us would return to Kenya after he finished his studies."

Obama Sr. was still a student as this was 1961.

I read the whole paragraph. It looks as though Obama, Sr. was writing from Hawaii to his father in Kenya, so the “Then you were born...” would fit Obama’s story. Whether or not Obama’s story is true, I don't see an admission in this section

My suspicions are more focused on his citizenship status in college, when he had the ability to renounce his Indonesian status. Since birth certificates apparently carry notes about such things, he would have good reason to keep it hidden, particularly if he used foreign status to get financial aid.
