Many Arlington Residents Have Expressed Unhappiness With Rolling Thunder
Arlington, Virginia Yupette ^ | June 8, 2010

Posted on 06/09/2010 8:14:52 AM PDT by chambley1

Hello Yupette,

Thank you for your blog.

You should know that many Arlingtonians have expressed unhappiness about the noise and bad behavior from 'Rolling Thunder' We recently suggested that 'Rolling Thunder' move to a resort area like Virginia Beach and that 'Rolling Thunder' be replaced by bicycle and pedestrian events. We were ignored.

Thanks for trying to improve our quality of life, not cater to every special interest that wants to do its thing in Arlington.

Susan

Arlington is the dingbat liberal outpost of Virginia which votes 3-1 for every kook the Demos put up statewide and is full of smug, rich white leftists; it should be retroceded back to the District of Columbia.

Oh, for Heaven’s sake. It’s only one weekend a year.

They make a lot of noise in Alexandria, too.

So what?

Perhaps it’s because they are veterans of a war that was unpopular? Perhaps it’s because they stand up for America and veterans benefits?

Arlington County is lumpy with liberals.

Whiners.

to the lady in the article...

Deal with it. It’s a once a year event and it’s to benefit and honor those who have served. If you have a problem with it, I suggest getting ear plugs or moving. If you are so crass that you have a problem with someone honoring the men and women who have put their lives on the line protecting you and your freedom, you probably need to move to somewhere like Afghanistan where your feelings about our soldiers are shared.

Go to hell Susan! I promise this bitch would have no problem if there were a “Rolling Abortionists” or “Rolling Code Pink” or “Rolling Muslims”! (actually rolling muslims would be too hysterical to pass up seeing)

What’s next? Fireworks to celebrate America’s Independence cause “too much noise”? Me-thinks it is the message that one doesn’t like and not the vroom-vroom. I support all the vroom-ing they want to do.

moving Rolling Thunder is like asking to move a main street parade because some busy body in inconvenienced.

Rolling Thunder is not just an event, it is an institution.

“Bad Behavior??”

The absolute worst I have seen from these guys is some might have an open beer at the end of their ride. In that, I wish I could join them.

Does she have specific grievances? I will admit I was a tad annoyed when I was 20 minutes late to church because the police shut down the beltway to let Rolling Thunder get by.

The thing was that the volume of bikes was not enough to justify shutting down the highway. I was on the ramp and saw the bikes go by with low enough frequency that they could have easily given the rest of us at least one lane. But I blame that one on a bad decision by the police, rather than on Rolling Thunder.

Don’t get me wrong. I admire Rolling Thunder’s cause. I am just saying that if other jurisdictions did more road shutdowns that was necessary, it may have caused some annoyances.

notice how SHE does not want to organize an event.

she wants somebody ELSE to organize the event so it can be something she can ignore.

If we passed a dumb sh*t liberal tax we could solve the national debt.

I would say, either deal with it Arlington or take off that weekend. Leave the Rolling Thunder folks alone!

all toy runs are done the same way. Highways are shut down. Signs go up weeks in advance warning drivers to seek alternate routes.

... and that 'Rolling Thunder' be replaced by bicycle and pedestrian events

Crux of the argument there. Big, bad, noisey, polluting motorcycles vs. "green" econut activities.

I live in NoVA. My family LOVES seeing the Rolling Thunder participants out on the roads every Memorial Day weekend and tries to get down to the Mall to see the parade. And in terms of "bad behavior" ... I've never heard of ANYTHING in that regard, and certainly not something along the lines of the 140 TONS of trash that Obama-revellers left on the National Mall and all the damage they left in their wake (they trashed some of the Smithsonian's gardens) when he was inaugurated.

Dear Susan, suggest you move to Massachusetts. Then you’d be a ‘masshole’.

Okay, thanks for the information. I didn’t see any signs, but that could well be my fault. Or that the local jurisdictions didn’t do as good a job as they should. In any case, it’s not the fault of Rolling Thunder.

There ya go, Arlington. That should carry you, along with the rest of you crybabies in the occupied half of my beloved Old Dominion through the rest of the year. Now, STFU and get a life.

Do they even know what Rolling Thunder is doing?! You can’t move Rolling Thunder to Virginia Beach because the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is in *** WASHINGTON DC ***.
