The way we’re looking at it, the canned stuff is there for several reasons:

1. Supplement and flavor the bulk grains, beans, pasta.
2. Trade goods - individual cans are good trade ‘units’.
3. Provide variety (ties into item #1) and the occasional treat.

Doesn’t pay to open a #10 can of baked beans when there are only two or three of you. We know.

Thats one of my concerns, even with the bulk freeze dried foods.

...but, if it is a #10 can of sliced peaches, it still may not pay, but, MMMMMMM what a treat.
