The residence of a University of Central Florida student housed a cache of explosive chemicals and a drug den, deputies said.
Investigators on Wednesday found jugs of corrosive acids and other chemicals inside the student's Campus Crossings apartment in east Orange County. They also seized cocaine, Ecstasy and oxycodone tablets, methamphetamine and dozens of glass beakers and flasks used to 'cook' meth a highly addictive drug.
William Cecil told Orange County sheriff's deputies that he used the compounds to make amphetamine, another controlled drug. He also rattled off a tally of substances he kept under his bed that read like the inventory list of a chemical supply company, records show.
"[Those chemicals] are very volatile, but not only that, if a human inhales them, it can cause severe damage to the lungs and that person," Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Sheriff's Office. Cecil, a 21-year-old computer science major and chemistry minor at UCF, faces charges of manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine. He left the Orange County Jail on Thursday after paying a $2,650 bail, said jail spokesman Allen Moore.
This is the third case this year of a drug-related arrest involving UCF students.
"The Office of Student Conduct will review the case after receiving the police reports," said UCF spokesman Chad Binette. "While we can't comment on specific cases, I can tell you that penalties in student conduct cases range from probation to expulsion."
Deputies said one of Cecil's roommates had alerted apartment staff to the hazardous chemical conditions in Cecil's unit.
The apartment manager told investigators she acted on the call by entering Cecil's apartment with the leasing manager. She photographed chemicals in the kitchen, including a jug labeled 'methanol' and 'flammable' as well as burners, frozen bottles and glass lab equipment.

Interesting pic. He obviously ignored Rule #1:
“Don’t get high on your own supply”
CS major and chem minor isn't for idiots that have to rely on Wymns studies for grades.
I thought all the smart whackjobs were concentrated on the left coast.

Oops! That was Rule #2.
53,000 students, 3 arrests
Gotta be the cleanest campus in the country.
Here is a story of a member of UCF Student Body that was drunk on campus:

When I think of how easily I was able to screw things up in my chem lab experiments, I cant imagine consuming anything that I concocted in a home laboratory.
