Even those of us who warned against the "canonization" of Shirley Sherrod didn't expect that right-of-center commentators would propose that her radical manifesto become part of the canon. Yet that's what Peggy Noonan is calling for:
" This September, when school begins, we should make [Sherrod's] speech required viewing in the nation's high schools."
Gee, can't this wait until February, when Black History Month rolls around?

Somehow I doubt this includes all of the Sherrods’ speeches and interviews.
She complains in her tripe that the Sherrod speech was cut down to a 2 minute excerpt....well...golly gee whiz...that’s NEVER happened before! And, oh, she forgets to mention some other things.....
I’m never going to mention the her name again in the same sentence..paragraph..language - as her former boss, who shall remain nameless for this purpose only.
Sherrod’s speech to the NAACP is a mixed bag of racism that will confuse young adults.

It’s damn near impossible to live without the free booze and finger snacks of the DC party circuit, as Noonan so richly demonstrates.
The sad thing it wasn’t just her. I did think the one part of her speech was taken out of context but what she described was far from a rejection of racism. She also went further to describe Tea Partys and those who disagree with the President and Nationalized Health care as mean-spirited racists. If it were only Peggy Noonan who reacted this way.
When will conservatives and Republicans stop jumping on the self flagellation bandwagon? Sherrod and her Husband both are very much racist individuals. They see nearly everything through the perspective of race and class.
Noonan I believe is a little slow on the uptake. Sometimes I think she is wonderful and the next thing I read from her makes me want to throwup.

Not necessarily related to this, but there is something very wrong with this woman. Has anyone ever seen her speak on C-SPAN, etc? If so, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

She’s never forgiven Bush 43 (and by extension the Republicans) for not inviting her into his speechwriting den in 2000.
Her writing anymore is of a bitter stepsister, overlooked and pining for relevance. It’s the very definition of the word ‘torpid’.
She’s lost whatever credibility she once had on the right and is now best known as a Chris-Matthews O-sycophant of the first order.
I frankly wish she’d just hike up her dress, ring the doorbell at the White House and get it over with, like Maureen Dowd did.

She never ceases to amaze me.
I did not think I could become more disgusted with her; yet I am. She needs to retire NOW.
