In God We Trust; All Others Must Pay Cash

The NYT describes why Wall Street is turning against President Obama. It claims that Wall Street’s overwhelming support for Obama in 2008 (70:30 D-R) has flipped (32:68 D-R) because of 1) Obama’s new financial regulations and 2) a realization that while “bankers, hedge fund mangers and traders supported the Obama candidacy because he [once] appealed to their egos” they’ve suddenly realized they were being set up all along to become the “villains”.

The zig-zag relationship between the White House and Wall Street is a story of partnership and betrayal. Daniel Loeb, one of Obama’s new critics said “it is easy to see why so many people have concluded that the entire system is rigged.” Sure, because it was a case of Wall Street scratching the politician’s backs while the politicians scratched theirs. But now that things are going bad, somebody has to hold the bag and Wall Street resents having to do it.

I always enjoy and get something out of this guys articles. He makes good historical comparisons most of the time and he's on my very short list of people I wish I could afford to send more than my measley five or ten bucks from time to time.

This guy is being generous. Obama was a tide. A reaction to W. These guys backed Obama because he was literally the only game in town. What they are pissed about is that having been bought, Obama didn’t stay bought.

Nothing pisses people off more than a politician that won’t stay bought.

Obama is a colossal confluence of bad circumstances: 1) the first seemingly-so reasonable 'black candidate' who talked the right talk coupled with, 2) an MSM-fueled hatred and revenge-inspired vendetta against George Bush, and 3) a downright honest human desire to support the 'minority' in a pure guilt trip response. The only true cause is number 2. He is a fricking disaster and his legacy will ensure the American people don't make this frickin mistake ever again. That is, if he hasn't so totally consolidated his reign that he dispenses with elections alltogether.

I agree with your 2 and 3, but on your point 1, he must have been (or his campaign team) telling Wall Street one thing, because what he was saying on the campaign trail was, “We gotta take from some to help the rest,” or words to that effect.

In fact, part of the dismay Obama is having is that HE TOLD EVERYONE WHO WOULD LISTEN THAT HE WAS GOING TO DO ALL THAT HE HAS SO FAR. I’m sure he can’t figure that out. I’m sure he’s pissed at the left, because nobody’s ever gone that far left in his position before, and shouldn’t he get some credit for that?

The right he truly doesn’t care about. We’re not his people. He won.

That’s what’s so stupid about the premise of using the budget process to hammer the right leading up to the elections. Republicans are completely out of power. 50 votes in the Senate will do nicely, and they have that plus 9. They have plenty in the House too.

If I were McConnell, I’d tell the R’s ‘Vote your conscience on the budget’, knowing full well that Snowe and Collins are going to do whatever they want anyway. Brown’s an empty suit, which is sad in the same way Obama’s sad.

Brown is the right’s Obama. Finally put a Republican in that seat, and he’s not up to the job now that he’s there.

Too bad, really.

His ‘dismay’ is having to reconcile the different versions and lies he told based on which particular groups he was speaking to. I think if you’ll check, most of his radical fundamental change theory was spouted to select audiences prior to his officially announcing his candidacy. That, coupled with the MSM putting the soft touch on EVERYTHING he spouts.
