We have become so comfortable wearing our kneepads when dealing with Islam that we are now ready for stage two in our service to them.

“After a discussion of how or if they should be distributed, the chaplain running the service reaffirmed Gen. Order No. 1 and the Bibles were not distributed and were confiscated.”
‘Today, Christian Broadcasting’s David Brody says “the Bibles were burned because the rules on the base say that all garbage is burned at the end of the day. But just asking here; if the U.S. Military seized a stack full of Korans, would they be burned? You think that might cause a little outrage in the Muslim world?”’
How does having a supply of Bibles help in achieving the military mission there? I think the US troops are banned from promoting any relgion to locals when they are deployed.

This should be tatoo'd on the forehead of every government official in America.
Everything becomes clear and obvious about Muslim behavior when you come to this single realization, and everything is random and unpredictable until you do.
The good thing coming from all of this is that Islam is being exposed for what it is, not so much as a religion but an ideology of bigotry, conquest, death and destruction to those who don’t buy into this ideology.
They’re being exposed thanks to this brave pastor. He’s a hero in my view.
As far as military deaths. Aren’t they surrounded right now with thousands who want to kill them before this issue ever came up? This Pastor is not the problem to Muslims, it our very existence that causes them to froth at the mouth
ears, nose while shouting “death to America” I believe they were saying that decades before this preacher was even born.
You need to read more slowly. The Bibles burned were unsolicited ones written in Pashtun and thus of no use by US citizens. NO bibles in English owned by any US servicemember or civilian were burned.
You break regs, you lose.
That isn't true, and it is a lame excuse for burning the bibles.
Clearly, we are reading different sources. Try Google and “US military burning bibles in Afghanistan.”
My point was you claiming that they were of no use to any American citizen.
“...It was entirely a wrong act for our government to push for the destruction of these bibles...”
The “proper” thing would have been to send them back to where they came from and leave it at that.
Generals follow orders, if they want to stay generals (ask MacArthur - arguably one of the most popular military figures of his day - relieved of command by Democrat president Harry Truman). That’s a reality of life, unfortunately. To my mind, the burnings were intentional, to send a message - or multiple messages - to the moslem world, and to OUR people as well.
Just my thought on it.
The celebrate diversity crowd repeatedly say things like “Christian missionaries are ‘asking for it’ when they go over there and push their religion...”
Those lands were not always “muslim nations”. Why so “xenophobic”? Why so “nationalist”?
“...Those lands were not always muslim nations. ...”
Absolutely right. They were overrun by the muz, and the Chrisitian and Jewish populations put to the sword or forcibly converted.
I’m just pointing out that Petreus is/was simply following orders. And worried for his troops.
Any message that was being sent was coming from above him.
