Then they're idiots. If they had their way, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, and Colorado would all be third-world sh*tholes, replete with corruption, cartel wars, and miserable living conditions, albeit not as sh*tty as the Old Country, thanks to advanced technology. Come to think of it, isn't L.A. already a third-world sh*thole?
But of course Ted Kennedy promised us otherwise:
...our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same.... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset.... Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area...
That was his defense of 1965's "Immigration and Nationality Act". There are many factors that have put America at risk but I personally attribute that despicable act as among the very worst things to happen to our country.
