China On The Brink
Accuracy in Academia ^ | September 21, 2010 | Malcolm A. Kline

Those who have seen the economy of the People’s Republic of China up close and personal do not have quite the rosy view of it that outsiders do.

Hong Bing Yuan, “Chinese exile, novelist, philosopher and law professor,” shared his less-than-sanguine thoughts on the Dragon at Pepperdine. According to university officials, Yuan pointed out that:

* “First, not everyone can participate in the marketplace, which increases the number of exports. If people domestically cannot participate in the economy, then there is more to sell to places like the United States;

* “Second, China exploits their abundant source of cheap, poor labor. There are 300 million people working or looking for work in China, many of them receiving only four dollars a day. This further increases production at lower costs, allowing for an increase in production and an increase in exports;

* “Third, the massive destruction of natural resources in China has led to a period of massive economic growth. However, this will stall and eventually cause the economy to crash when the country depletes its natural resources.”

Also, their one child per family, leading to a shortage of marriage age women and a surplus of marriage age men is a demographic time bomb.

All I know is that I’m getting sick of their mouth. I’m sick of our own feminine dealings with these countries as well. Elect me and I’ll nuke someone right off the bat, just to make sure everyone understands.

And what will the Chinese leadership do when things begin to stall? They may have a different approach than our leaders. Sometimes desperation leads to agression.

The Chinese economy in a nutshell.

Not so sure about that. They've got a massive industrial base (thanks in particular to American out-sourcing). As an industrial engine, they are for this century, what the US was in the last.

As long as there are people to buy their products in massive quantities, the Chinese economy will do OK.

The joker in the deck is probably not economics, so much as politics.

I already drew up a plan to send in a special forces team to steal their moon-rock in the middle of the night. My plan is to put it on Mars and tell them they can have it back when they evolve enough as a culture to fetch it for themselves.

But as the worlds economic engine grinds to a halt, there will be no one to buy Chinas goods.

China may own a large part of our debt, and maybe other countries also, but IOUs aren't worth much in fiat money.

The US only has 2 real assets. Land and people. And China has enough of their own people.

Exactly. When the UAW needed a bailout of its health plans and pensions D.C. had to help them out. In China they would just crack a few skulls.

"many of them receiving only four dollars a day. This further increases production at lower costs, allowing for an increase in production and an increase in exports"

And the union worker is supposed to be globally competitive at $70/hr against $0.50/hr. I had to laugh out loud when Zero said his goal is to double exports in something like a couple of years. Yeah, at 1,400 times the cost of the competition. He would have to distroy our economy in order to make the US wage-competitive with China (oh yeah, he's doing it now). There's a sack of hope for ya.

As the bulk of males hit puberty, it'll be only a matter of time before the rumblings of war start since they have few options to dissipate aggression.

Maybe the Treasury can pay back their notes by facilitating marriages (except it looks like the bulk of their population is lacking the financial resources, so the brides would have to come with a dowry - but with wages at $4/day, it wouldn't take much to set up a new family).

Also, this explains the government's ban on pornography - don't want to fan the flames!

The only consolation I have in all this union bailout crap is that both China and the unions will eventually get screwed when we pay China back with inflated $'s and the union's fixed income payments get crushed by the inflation they had a large hand in creating...

We could always send a bunch of actresses and Madonna to calm them down.
