There is no fiscal conservatism without social conservatism. Social programs cost money. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal = $$$$$$$$$. And people are waking up.
Maybe I wasn’t clear enough what I meant.. With social issues, I mean personal issues like abortion rights, gay rights etc. I’m not supporting a single cent of taxpayer money going towards either of those issues BUT I support those liberties. If I’d be in charge, there would be no welfare, there would be no medicaid, no social security and no public schooling. I’m a capitalist and I believe in a system of supply and demand. Government should only pay for national security and everything else should be left to supply and demand.
Let’s also rememeber that some of our worst drains on fiscal health are sirectly the result of one of those “fringe” socon issues, abortion.
Add 40 million people into the American economy, and tell me we’d have a porous border and social security and medicare in collapse. No way.
