When Meghan McCain went on her book tour she was amazed to find that the media was completely obsessed with her—and that Palin wasn’t too pleased with what she wrote.
As my book tour for Dirty Sexy Politics comes to an end, there are a few things that have surprised me about its publication. I expected some backlash from former campaign staffers (check) and a complicated conversation with my father (double check, he didn’t read it until two weeks before it hit stores). What I didn’t expect, however, was that instead of the media concentrating on my admission of almost overdosing on Xanax the day before the election, or my goal for a new “big tent” direction for the Republican Party, or any of the other racier confessions in my book, they only focused on Sarah Palin. In every interview and review it was all Sarah all the time.
Now, I will give you that there is the obvious curiosity about my father’s running mate. And yes, I was there when she was picked, which is documented clearly in my book.
But I was on the road for 18 months as opposed to Sarah Palin’s 60 days, which is why more than three quarters of my book is about the part of the campaign before she joined.
Only a small portion of the time dealt with Sarah Palin, mainly because I thought that story had already been told and what I added was the small portion of my perspective, which I had been asked about repeatedly over the past year. But none of this seemed to matter, and it surprised me because by all accounts the recent election was one of the most historic in recent memory.

It’s not rocket science. Palin is a potential future president who is also photogenic (and supposedly prettier in peron) and a fighter against the establishment, whether the Alaska party, big oil in Alaska, or now, the national Republican party . . . and soon to be the Democratic Party. Palin is remaking national politics with just twitter and endorsements of politicians. McCain’s daughter (whatever her name is . . . I honestly can’t remember and I just read the damn article) is an average looking girl of average intelligence with a Senator for a father. The media is right. We don’t care about Sen. McCain or his daughter much, he’s just 1 of 100 Senators and she’s just 1 of 200 or 300 Senator’s daughters. Losing a Presidential race makes him as important as Mondale and Dukakis.
Why would anyone give Paris McCain the time of day. Just another media whore.
With no disrespect to the ladies who work hard at Hooters, some of which are more intelligent than MM, if Meghan’s last name weren’t McCain, that’s where she would be working right now.
Book tour? She must have hit a couple of Starbucks - or more likely Dunk'n Donuts - and called it a wrap.
Don’t worry, Meggy. You’re double the woman Sarah is.
Dear Meghan — you’re probably the last one to know it, but you are, essentially, a buffoon and have outlived your usefulness as a media tool. You might want to ring up Cindy Sheehan — she’s got some real world experience in this.
She’s a little porky for Hooters...at least for the ones I’ve been to. ;)
