Obama compares his health care plan to Romney's on '60 Minutes.' "Wasn't that different...."

President Obama sat down with Steve Kroft from 60 Minutes Sunday night to discuss the political earthquake that occurred on Tuesday. Not surprisingly, ObamaCare was discussed as a source of voter discontent. The President acknowledged the political consequences of ramming the government takeover of health care down our throats. However, in a likely preview of what is to come should Mitt Romney win the GOP nomination, he drew comparisons between his health care legislation and the one conceived and enacted by the former Governor of Massachusetts.

Politico reports:

[...]

Obama sought in the interview to explain many of his policy efforts as necessary but unpopular medicine needed to address the sharp economic downturn, but he acknowledged that one major contributor to the “big government Obama” narrative—the health care reform law—was something he could have deferred.

“At the time, we knew that it probably wasn’t great politics,” Obama said. “I made the decision to go ahead and do it and it proved as costly politically, as we expected. Probably actually a little more costly than we expected, politically,” he added.

In a hint of a possible storyline in the upcoming 2012 presidential campaign, Obama said the health care plan he backed was specifically designed to mirror those proposed in the past by Republicans, including former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whom Obama suggested is making another bid for the White House.

“We thought that if we shaped a bill that wasn’t that different from bills that had previously been introduced by Republicans, including a Republican Governor in Massachusetts who’s now running for president, we would be able to find some common ground there. And we just couldn’t,” Obama said.

And the warning just went out. If we nominate Romney, Obama will destroy him on this issue, and we have four more years of Barack.

We are obviously witnessing the media's attempt to help resurrect Obama. His health care plan, just like everything else from his administration, is radical.

The artist can now add two more podiums that say, "Pro- communist health care" and "Anti- communist health care".

ObamaCARE (RomneyCARE) were written by a man in prison
and an abuser of dogs.

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly — they may, in fact, be illegal.
Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone
from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel
or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the
animal carried thereon.
" An officer for the Massachusetts Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation
saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer,
Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law
but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck,
and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."

"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch?
Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip
"Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter,
in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack.
e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog," read the article.
Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for.
....What Happens to a Dog on a Roof Traveling 50 MPH?"

"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely
the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea
in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon.
Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. "He scrambled up there every time we went on trips,"
the Republican said during a campaign stop in Pittsburgh. "He got in all by himself and enjoyed it."

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon,
keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble.
''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window,
payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.
As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust,
Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car,
then hopped back onto the highway."

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse?
Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron.
But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea,
which ran down the back window of the car. Romney's sons, all under 13, howled in disgust.
Romney pulled off the road into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, and they drove on to Ontario.
.....David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog.
"It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently,
in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever
for the suffering that the solution may cause."

Romney didn’t finance his plan by dramatically decreasing health care to the elderly like Obama.

But I agree he shouldn’t be the candidate in 2012.

“and that’s why Romney will NEVER GET my vote”

I preferred Romney to McCain, and also strongly prefer him to Obama.
I’d rather have Joe Biden than Obama, so why wouldn’t I also prefer Romney?

Because Romney is a suede shoe flip-floppin' RINO. Comprende?

If Romney runs for President he will only be throwing dollars down the drain. He has no chance at the GOP nomination. If he gets it........so VERY sad for the GOP...then the pushback and the divsions will occur.

If the backers of Romney think that isn’t going to be used to help Obaa win re-election they are delusional. What’s more do NOT expect Conservatives, Independents and even some Dems who hate that legislation to then roll over and play the spin game that Romney didn’t do the same exact damn thing.

I didn’t go out of my way to defend McCain except on rare occassion when the attack was unjust and I won’t
defend Romney against the attacks of his own heathcare bill.

Does it matter if you’d prefer him over Obama? The same Independents and conservatives that have crucified Obama in town halls and at the polls aren’t going to be particularly thrilled to learn the GOP nominated a man who enacted the same legislation. Kind of hard to argue the GOP wouldn’t be hypocrites. Public opinion against the GOP and Romney would be ugly if they try and brazen that one out after 2 years earlier waging war against Obamacare in an election.

People who want to win need to think long and hard if they want to go down that road. The elites in the party say we cost them the Senate? well I disagree but consider this. McCain cost them the presidency and so to will Romney.

Thank you Obama for proving the case many of us FReepers already know - this is exactly why I will not vote for Romney. He cannot run for and oppose health care repeal because it will make him look like a complete hypocrite.
