The recent public ire toward the TSAs new pat-down and body imaging screening methods is likely to cause more people to drive automobiles and forego airline travel, say two transportation economists who have studied the issue.
As the nation readies for one of the busiest traveling holidays, Steven Horwitz, a professor of economics at St. Lawrence University, told The Hill that the probable spike in road travel, caused by adverse feelings towards the Transportation Security Administrations (TSA) new screening procedures, could also lead to more car-related deaths.

Stop with this example, Mr Pistole.
That particular flight originated in AMSTERDAM, ferchrisssakes.
Anyone going to be surprised when Amtrak reports record profits during the next quarter.
The 'Christmas Day bomber' was a Muslim male on a watch list who bought a one way ticket in cash with no checked bags. Profiling would also have stopped him from boarding the plane.
And, by the way, he was thwarted by U.S. citizens who didn't have to grope people who were not a threat.
Yep, GFYJP.
Which makes the whole scanning and groping process absolutely absurd for many many reasons. We are talking about more than "unintended consequences" here. There really can be little other conclusion than it is intended to demean and demoralize the American citizenry. Even Michael Chertoff, the Rabbi's Son, whose God of course is Money, knows that his investment in scanners is tantamount to disrespect for the American taxpayer. GWB's appointment.
God we are dealing with an ugly government.

And that’s their best rationalization for unreasonable searching? If a priest or pastor required such a pat-down search prior to communion, how long do you think that would be tolerated?
This will cause more highway injuries and deaths.
Driving I-95 through N. Va., D.C. and Md. yesterday and today (8 hrs. roundtrip) the traffic seemed particularly bad this early before the holiday. Multiple accidents, backups and frustrated drivers. Some percentage has to be from people refusing to fly... the mayhem isn’t just inside airports.
