Current DNC chief and former Governor Tim Kaine has announced that he is running for the Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Jim Webb. Webb barely won the election of 2006 in a close race during a Democratic wave election. Webb announced that he would not be running for another term about a month ago.
Kaine, a popular former Governor, is facing off against former Governor and Senator Jim Allen. Allen, a Republican, had served both posts before being defeated in 2006.

Woo-hoo! Bring it, UniBrow! “Popular Governor” my @$$.
Virginia NEEDS A NEW REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE.
George Allen does not float my boat. Sorry.
The other lady needed to stay put in the tea party.
No GOP Primary challengers for this race?
This guy is the archetypical DEM PROFESSIONAL POL.
If Virginians have any sense they’ll send this turd packing.
Jim Allen? Any relation to Jim Thompson?
The little weiner Kaine is already digging up the dead votes. He’s going to be tough to beat. Through his fake veneer and his wacked out eye brow is a hardcore Marxist that most don’t seem to mind. Liberal transplants love him and we have plenty of liberal transplants.
Jamie Radke is making a primary challenge. She was one of the Tea Party leaders. There are some rumors about some others but, so far, no one else has stepped forward.
I thought it was George Allen. Who is Jim Allen?
Jim Allen???
Great and he is going to get shellacked by whoever the GOP nominates. We all want a shot at the unibrowed phony.
There is no primary election. US Senate candidates are chosen by delegates at the state GOP convention. There are more candidates other than Allen.
Tim Kaine has one really BIG problem:
He cannot add nor subtract.
Macaca!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He also announced his run in Spanish.
What also makes me mad is that currently the dems are gerrymandering in our state right now too. They are trying to cut Virginia Beach's (VA's largest city) representation in half by redistricting because Virginia Beach is one of VA's most conservative cities. Argh.
You must be joking. Obama has been pushing Kaine to enter the race. Obama wants him on the ticket to help him in 2012. It will be very close race. Kaine can certainly win. The changing demographics of Northern VA have changed VA from a red state to a purple state.
Obotulism is not popular here in the Commonwealth and to have him come here to campaign for Unibrow is a certain kiss of death. Bob McDonnell won in liberal parts of NOVA by 52-48% after Dim Paine’s term ended. Dissatisfaction with Democrats was a strong contributing factor.
The Republicans in Virginia hate the Tea Party. It's a messy battle. But Jamie Radtke just doesn't have the background experience, in my opinion. Just being an outsider isn't enough.
Corey Stewart might have a chance.
CM Rob Wittman has a good chance too.
