If you tuned into the 24 hour news channels this weekend, you saw more of the wall-to-wall coverage, in-depth speculation and general sensationalizing of the Casey Anthony trial. But you probably missed the announcement by Representative Thaddeus McCotter (R-Michigan) that he is officially running for president.
Granted the GOP field is rather crowded and one more candidate seeking the party's nomination may not be big news. But on a holiday weekend when the only other story is the courtroom saga in Florida, it would seem reasonable that the media would give a sitting member of Congress some attention; at least as much coverage as they gave President Obama's former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman when he recently announced his candidacy.

McCotter is highly intelligent, thoughtful, quick on his feet and quite funny.
However, in the real sense of personal accountability, freedom and traditional American values, ALL conservatives are cool.
I like the guy and look forward to him in the debate but we need to give up any fantasies of him getting elected. Americans simply don’t have a lot of tolerance for a pro union republican.
He’s a product of his district which is why there isn’t likely to be a presidential candidate from Michigan who has a chance till things here change.
Personally I think he’s running with an eye on a senate seat.
i hope so. we have more than enough jello in the ‘puke party.
Maybe its time for some of the unknowns to state they are running for Vice President.
Why flood the field with more invisible names? But some of these folks could actually become visible is they were “trying out” for higher office.
Coolest name in the field, for sure.
Nicely done!
Better than a coward who fears the truth.
I’ve seen McCotter speak a few times and from what I’ve heard, I like him. He has principles.
McCotter on the health care bill -
“No matter how imperfect the health care system is right now, it cannot be fixed by the most broken entity in the world today, which is the United States government.”
You really are becoming a troll.
So do you support anyone, or do you just find things to criticize?
I support (in order) Palin, Perry, McCotter, Bachmann and Cain. Subject to re-order based on subsequent debates.
There. I’m attempting to give you something to offer a real thought of discussion about.
Rather than just looking for a union boogieman under your bed.
‘wwwooooooooooooo’
OMG McCotter supports the BOOGIEMAN!!! :D
For reader consideration, I’m including a link to (up to) 20 minutes of McCotter speaking at the Republican Leadership Conference (3 parts, this is the link to part 1 of the 3)

Readers can really see some of what McCotter is about - which includes being quite intelligence and clear about world realities - starting at 5:00 minutes, speaking about the threats currently facing America.
Followed by his description of how we improve things.
McCotter is almost astoundingly eloquent, like one would imagine the signers of our Constitution might have been. Very inspiring.
Go ahead and listen. Then decide about McCotter not on what I or a certain poster I disagree with say about him.
Decide about McCotter, by what he himself says.
Go ahead. Listen for a few minutes:

Yes of course.
And Palin is a quitter. And Bachmann really did not raise her kids. Cain is just a pizza delivery guy.
And Perry is a RINO.
Did I miss anything?
If you repeat it often enough, then it must be something you repeat.
For everyone else who is trying to learn about Thaddeus McCotter, here’s that link again.
Listen starting at minute 5:00, give it 2 or 3 minutes and see if it doesn’t remind you of a couple other Republicans.
One currently not yet in the race. Another, once a great President. Notice where he gets the most applause, and think about what McCotter is saying.
Decide for yourselves FR:

I’m stealing that.
