History lesson

A classmate of mine asked our history teacher why it was important for us to learn about history. His answer was simple; we learn from our mistakes to ensure that we don't repeat them. That logic has been instilled in us from childhood. Now we are all grown, so it seems fitting that we should look back and ask - have we learned our lesson?

We have a history of discrimination starting when the pilgrims docked. This was a country founded on the fundamental belief in freedom, yet we have discriminated against every culture. We asked the world to give us their tired, their sick, their hungry, and poor but turned against them. They understood the ideas written into the Declaration of Independence better than Americans. This discrimination stemmed from the belief that we were superior to everyone else. Every generation began striving to outdo the last and our nation and ego. We have all said this is the greatest country of the world. How many of us have ever been to another well-developed country to make that decision?

For the younger generations, what is left for us to prove? In realizing that there is no great world war or cause, everyone started focusing on getting material possessions that have been deemed necessary for a successful life. We stopped believing that our votes and voices mattered.

In that class, there was a recurring theme throughout history. Nations always fell. Everything changes and we have been screwing up for a long time. There's no one to blame except for the citizens who let it happen by caring about the world they could see from their front porch. Eventually our nation will crumble. Our government has proven itself corrupt. The rates of our unemployment, teenage pregnancy and incarceration are alarmingly high. Suddenly the view from our porch isn't appealing and everyone's wondering why.

I believe this is the cause my generation needs. We spend most of our time on self-destructive behavior. If we could unite and use that negative energy for a purpose, there is nothing we couldn't achieve. It's time for us to demand more from our government than welfare. We need to stop feeling entitled to everything our parents have when we haven't worked for it. Why not stop being selfish and try to make a difference? I see people every day searching for something, but no one has stood up and said enough. Our government is supposed to be for the people, by the people, of the people, but when was the last time you felt your government cared more about you than their re-election? Eventually everything we know will crumble. But, it's not too late. I'd rather leave my children the legacy of trying rather than leaving them our mess.

This is our time and unless we open our eyes and start looking for the big picture this may be the chapter titled "The Beginning of the End" that your great-grandchildren are studying from.

We baby boomers have set a bad example with our preoccupation with our own interests and a lack of concern about society in general.

Please tell me what non-caucasian countries were doing before Caucasians dominated the world? The exact same thing you mitigate against Caucasians. For 5500 yrs the whole world sang kumbayah until the whites. You need to be zotted before you hurt yourself.

Alinsky in the second paragraph. Make the enemy live up to his own book of rules. Yawn. So predictable.

I am a baby boomer.
Screw you and the horse you are riding on.
I have nothing to apologize for, I have never owned slaves, I have never been on the dole.
I make my own way, pay taxes, put u with BS from politicians, and do gooders.
I absolutely refuse to apologize for being what I am.
I am an American, I am doing what is right, if you have a guilty conscience talk to your priest or confessor.
Get over it or let it go, life is not fair. Learn thru education, reading experience, quit bitching and make it better.

You may have set a bad example, but not I, I accept that I fail. I move on and learn from the failure.

If you can find a better society, I am sure that we can take up a collection for plane, boat, auto, or foot wear to get you there.

I heard an outstanding explanation from a bunch of WWII vets while waiting for a haircut at a barbers.

It struck me so truthful that I have never forgotten what they said.

Their consensus was that thought that they had set such a great example of what it takes to be a good American. They proved how big the divide between Fascism, Communism, Socialism and being an “AMERICAN” represented that they didn’t have to pound the point home with their children and their grand children.

That allowed the teachers who were spawned from the Socialists that stayed home during the wars (WWII & Korea) and were not interested in Freedom, Liberty and Responsibility, could stuff lies, half truths and misconceptions down their students throats till they grew a new society of Liberals/Progressives and outright Communists.

Here’s the thing. We do not need the US government to do more FOR US. It has become an albatross hanging from our necks. More FOR US means more strings attahed (aka taxes and regulations) and more governement interference in our private lives.

On the contrary, what we need is a loose coalition of states with a small federal government linking us together ~ uniting us as a nation. Each state providing its own defense and its own laws for its citizens.

I could go on, but it’s late and I may not speak as clearly as I intend. Plus my typing is horrid. I’m impressed I got this much out without too many typos on the first read through.

You are describing all human cultures....America became the exception—and the most diverse, most creative and, never in the history of mankind, such a melting pot of cultures. It was unbelievable that a Finn could live next to a Russian and not kill him, or an Irishman could bring sugar to an Englishman or a Japanese could farm next to a Mexican. Perfect—no==but the MOST perfect in the history of man—because of the Judeo/Christian paradigm —Christianity which rid cultures of sodomy and sex with children as a “good” and removed slavery—which still exists in Asian and African, arab cultures along with sodomy and pederasty.

You are correct about the baby boomers=the me generation but the greatest generation trusted government and that is why we are in this mess. They were working extremely hard and raising kids, going to church and were lied to by the press.

They were made to think one thing, as government and courts were subverting our laws and destroying the “fixed beliefs” (BK Eakman) of the children—making them into the “feel good, do it” moral relativist of Marx. With Carter’s DOE, centralizing power became easy and brainwashing kids easy—esp. with the help of degenerates in Hollywood—the Marxist cabals that controlled information and the public schools were subverted by the socialist Dewey who forced moral relativism into the worldview of public school system when they kicked out the Universal Truths of the McGuffey Readers in the 30’s.

I would add that although Baby Boomers really didn’t live exemplary lives—it was the Media and school systems that corrupted the morals of the children and made them ignorant with the Marxist curricula which is designed to destroy knowledge and Christian morality, and the love of reading and discovering truth. They want to return our culture to one of slavery, sodomy and pederasty. Very much like the ancient Greeks—Isn’t is interesting that homosexual literature considers Greek society the “perfect” one where boys were the “ideal” partner.

For the younger generations, what is left for us to prove?

"To these ways of ours Posterity will have nothing to add; our grandchildren will do the same things, and desire the same things, that we do. All vice is at its acme; up with your sails and shake out every stitch of canvas!" - Juvenal

( In the last phrase he is expressing his resolve to express himself freely in his Satires, which are here being introduced. )

For the people who read the entire thing, your post rings.

For those who quit reading when they became offended, it came across as a personal indictment.

When it comes to 'History' and 'Citizenship' in schools, so many kids have the, "Why does this matter?" syndrome.

Only when it is too late do many of them realize that it mattered, but at that point, most still don't connect the problems to their attitude.

But holding the government accountable, and demanding more of it shouldn't be a cause to be pursued until accomplished.

It should be a lifestyle: Reflexive. Consistent. Unending.

No we did not. Emma Lazarus' poem is not policy.

Well, this is a perfect example of what’s wrong with the educational system in the USA. The theme of this article is “we, as a nation, are bad.”

Please name ONE other country in the history of the world, that done more to foster good in just a bit over 200 years than has been direct result of the USA.

Do we have faults? Of course. But talk about throwing out the baby with the bath water...

Mark

I think “visceral” is needed with the truth, now a days, because of the media- forced matrix that is projected by the devil on the walls of everyone’s cave. They won’t really notice what the message is in their state of hypnosis when this presentation of concepts is just a continuation in a Fred Roger’s tone. Michael (Savage) kind of taught me that.

Noted: Sesame Street begins the long conditioning of people/slaves into this state of not noticing anything unless it its loud and disjointed and flashy and can grab your attention. It is the beginning of the process of the shadows becoming the reality. Of course, WHOSE reality is it—hint: it is theirs—those puppet-masters who took most control of Hollywood by the 1920’s (communists) —they are forming the reality for all TV viewers. What is beautiful, what is “good”, there is no God (how stupid is that?!) the devil is cool, Che is “good”, sexual morality destroys fun, cop-killers are good—up is down.

People think it is their reality but they sat and watched their “reality” for most of their lives so what other one could they have? Especially if they had a dysfunctional family—which is caused by Marxist’s hatred for the family unit—the only thing which protects the psyche and gives models and support for emotional healthy people (but only if they are healthy spiritually). Morality is fundamental in all societies to prosper. Marxism = no morality—after all, we are just “trousered-apes”.

Forgive the mention of Fred Rogers—he is a good guy and really did love the children.
