PING!
Costco has 50lbs rice for $17 and 50lbs bread flour for $16.
That’s 2000 calories a day for 82 days for $33.
Easy backup or starting point.
No-brainer for first step or easy extension.
I think the fat lady is still backstage.
What happened in Dec of 2001?
Almost picked up one of those Chinese SKS’s this weekend.
But I got tons of .223 and would rather get something else that can shoot it...
Maybe an AR15 or another Mini...
Ammo, and lots of it.
Keep it simple - and cheap. Don’t try to stock up planning on big, fancy dinner parties. Depends on what your current living situation is as to what you need to stock. For instance, we have a well with prep for manual use, so we didn’t need to store up a lot of drinking water. Think it out and do what is right for you; and don’t stress. Make a start a step or two at a time, and keep on a day at a time.
Step One: Load the Garands
How long will the water last in those plastic jugs you get at the grocery store?
Sorry to ask such a rudimentary question.
FerFAL lives in Argentina and has an excellent survival blog:

He is very knowledgeable about self-defense and weaponry. He has a great sense of humor too, and is politically a libertarian (hates the Kirschners, Peronistas, etc.). I hope he finds a way to get to the US.
You know, I would have kinda' thought this was fringe, nutcake stuff long ago.
But not that much anymore these days. Looking at other countries. Seeing Hollywood Blvd. the other night in LA. Knowing the power of Twitter to assemble large, anarchic entitled, pissed off Obamanastic crowds and illegales in a matter of minutes at one location...past US riots.....on and a on an on on and on...the beat dont stop till the break of dawn.....
At least to be prepared is to live in a better state of peace of mind, I will say that much.
Love your family, and protect them (and yourself), and have a plan folks. Then just live life, but you will know in the back of your mind you have some modicum of control over events.
I hate to see some of you come December 21st, 2012. =.=
I’m serving up led to any perps that try to break down my door.
Sam’s Club is having a “free” weekend (8/5-7) - you don’t have to be a member to shop (saves you 40 bucks).
You still have to be savvy, since the prices there aren’t always lower than your local market sales.
Reading the article one thing jumps out at me again, something I’ve been arguing for a long time.
STAY HOME!!!
I hear references to people talking about bug-out-bags and bug-out-locations and I think well, dude, yur just askin to get yourself killed on the road, probably alone, in some far-distant place you are not familiar with at all.
Far better, far far better to identify and find resources and like-minded people near where you are and have a plan.
Bug-out is crazy. If anything serious was to really start, the roads would be impassable in the first hour!
The last minute preps that are extremely important are documents. Do you really have those birth certificates, passports, vehicle titles, bank records, shot records, names/addresses/phone numbers/email addresses/frequencies, etc.? Check, check, and re-check. Check them right now and order or replace anything you find missing.
