"Why Is Abortion Still Such a Big Deal in America?"
Vital Signs Blog ^ | August 26, 2011 | Denny Hartford

The one question that most perplexed the Norwegian TV crew that was interviewing me in my living room was "Why, after so long a time, is abortion still such a desperate controversy here in the United States?" Their experience in Europe gave them few clues. After all, abortion had come to most Western European countries, been rapidly accepted and was now off the political agenda altogether. So they were sincerely trying to figure out why four decades had elapsed since abortion had begun to be legalized in the U.S. and yet abortion was still, as Jan described, "issue number one for America's people."

"Why Is Abortion Still Such a Big Deal in America?"

Because unlike in Europe, we still have actual free speech, and enough sources of information that circumvent the state-controlled media that the debate isn't artificially silenced.

Because we are a Christian nation who values life.

The issue is pretty settled on blog pimps though.

It’s not going to issue #1 for this election, the economy will be. But it is a very important issue because we struggle to be the society that continues to value the lives of the most vulnerable among us. That’s why Obamacare’s death panels evoke nearly as strong a reaction.

Abortion was NEVER LEGALIZED. It was adopted by antidemocratic FIAT. The “Supremes” FORCED it on America!

Europeans are used to having abusive practices stuffed down their throats. In America not everybody will put up with that sort of thing.

The only reason abortion continues to be an issue is we have not risen up in arms and deposed the illegitimate regime that imposed the practice. Some still believe we can use democratic principles to prohibit it.

Faint hope!

When unelected judges give a cabal of insiders carte blanche to murder people for money, that offends American sensibilities in a variety of ways.

Answer their question with another question:

“Think there will be any Norwegians left in Norway in a hundred years?”

Has this person ever watched a video of an abortion? I have, and it is MURDER! We are STILL a Christian nation no matter what “foreign president” says and that makes abortion an abomination! Even to the so called enlightened person, I would like to think a heartbeat is a heart beat - LIFE! And, lastly, sucking the brains out of a little being is certainly not intellectual progress - quite the opposite.

Well, no. But it's a bit dishonest to use your blog as a primary source of information at another website. If you're just giving your views on things for the general freeper audience, why not just make a FR topic? If you want to blog, then blog and let people find it on their own.

Now, I will say that it is completely different if you post something somewhere else where it's behind a subscription wall of some sort where the general public can't see it and you want freeper input.

Norway....oh, they try to come across as being all liberal and understanding, but where was all that liberal understanding when my great-great-great grandfather got caught screwing the queen? Oh, then it was swords and torches and hiding under Herring for 30 days to make it to America. Norway....liberal?.....hah! Screw the queen and next thing you know, you’re in Iowa.
