I believe I would have more respect for the IDF if they were announcing that they would be TAKING no prisoners.

Announcing you are taking no prisoners is strictly forbidden under the laws of war, unless it is in retaliation for a specific act of no quarter.

Bingo ... that’s the way to handle that situation. Take no prisoners. If you don’t take’em, they won’t take’em. And keep repeating the line .... They were tragically killed while resisting arrest.

Except in cases of perfidy, reprisals. And of course there is the whole unlawful combatant thing. The targeting of civilians — wholly under looked by the media and war crime boards.

Israel should cancel this deal from hell. Let Shalit stay forever. If a single little girl is murdered by one of these released monsters, the Shalit family should live in shame the rest of their days. He is a soldier. His job is protect innocents. He knew the risks. Cancel the deal!

He smokes them from the sky after observing for a long time, and getting a legal opinion.

Israel should have demanded Shalit’s release in exchange for their not levelling an entire muzzie-scum city. Failure to get him back within 48 hours should have resulted in one city being leveled. Then simply repeat the demand and spin the wheel to see which city would be next.

Caving in to muzzie demands strengthens them. Destroying their stuff (and their people) with overwhelming force sends the message that Israel will win at all costs and it’s futile to try anything like this in the future. Strength is the only thing those savages will respect. Niceties and civility are a sign of weakness to them.

Alternately, the Shalit family should have demanded that any released muzzie prisoners be given a pork enema as part of their processing.

It’s not assassination. It’s shooting an illegal combatant first.

When the execution comes via a missile from a drone there is always a possiblility that innocent people will suffer. That is why there is a Bill of Rights. There is no room for error there.

There is no moral difference between that and dropping a stick of bombs from a B-52. In time of war, the civil law is silent. Does the Bill of Rights apply to an enemy soldier in combat? No. Nor does it apply here.

Modern Muslims follow the examples of the Koran. Why don't modern Jews follow the examples of the Torah? What would Joshua have done? Simple. Once Hamas demanded what prisoners "must be released", Joshua would have killed every single one of them, and then threatened to kill all the rest, unless Shalit were released. If he was still not released, or was harmed, he would go into Gaza, find every Hamas official and their families, and kill them all. It is utterly depressing how Jews how totally forgotten the legacy of this greatest general and leader.

No. Most American wars have been without declaration of war. My brother sniped at Vietcong from a distance; did he do wrong? There was no declaration of war in the Gulf in 1988 and we sank Iranian ships. There was no declaration of war against the Indians.

No.
