I’m not quiet about it. I used to laugh at survivalists. Not this time. I quit my job in Seattle, bought a farm in Kentucky, found work here, and am most definitely preparing. It’s called putting your money where your mouth is.
My biggest concern is getting my adult kids here if this thing goes down fast.
Why? Obama! President Robespierre! Entitlement Zombies when the money stops growing on trees....
Smart ones, that is. If everyone knows you are prepared, they'll know where to come for help, and eventually you'll have to deny the help or will be faced with defending what you've got against others trying to take it.
I wish I could find preppers in my area to work with. I talked to my local selectment about having the town prepared, and you would have thought I grew a second heat.

I'll go so far as to state flatly that 90% of the aware do their thing and shut up.
The ones that can't help themselves as to how clever and prepared they are, are the attention whores, painting targets on themselves.
Not exactly the sharpest tools in the box.
Don't get me started on the "gold nuts."
My brother was telling me that he heard a guy on the radio over this past weekend talking about us ‘horders’; he was accusing people of causing food shortages and that all of this was BS and purchases should be limited etc etc.
Point being, you can bet that this is an idea being considered by the insane government we now have. Even if it isn’t being talked about I would bet in some dark conference room somewhere in D.C., ideas are being formulated on how to control the food supply.
Kartographer, have you seen this? Incredible first hand experiences posted by a man who was in Bosnia during that conflict. I’m just starting to read it now.
Maybe it’s been posted on FR already, I would have no idea if only a link could be posted or Selco’s comments copied and posted. It would be a real eye opener for people who haven’t thought things through...
