EXCLUSIVE: Family Leader and Bob Vander Plaats Will Not Endorse Gingrich...
Caffeinated Thoughts ^ | 12/15/2011 | David Shedlock

Posted on 12/16/2011 3:34:05 PM PST by grassboots.org

At Governor Huckabee’s Gift of Life movie premiere last evening, I had an opportunity to sit down with The FAMiLY LEADER president Bob Vander Plaats. In an earlier interview I heard him suggest that the Family Leader may have to make a pragmatic decision on who to endorse for President. I was concerned that “pragmatic” might mean picking a pro-choice candidate over a pro-life candidate because they have a better “chance” at beating Barack Obama (or Mitt Romney!).

When I pointed out that Rick Perry and New Gingrich hold positions that include exceptions on abortion he said:

“If I find that to be true, if I find that your comments to be true, that will be part of the...

After he was finished I said “I am going to hold you to it,”

After the film was over I had an opportunity to show Speaker Gingrich a picture of nine babies of various ages and ask him which one was a victim of rape and should be killed. Instead of using it as an opportunity to say he had changed his mind (in light of the claim that he believes life begins at conception),[1] he grimaced, ignored my questions, and walked away.

[1]  It should be noted that from the beginning the Family Leader has said “The signing of the pledge will be a requirement for any future endorsement by The FAMiLY LEADER.  (Email sent out by Family Leader). It is important also, I think, to point out how the two documents differ.

In his response, Gingrich doesn’t mention pornography, prostitution, human trafficking, women in combat, Sharia Law, or “robust childbearing and reproduction”, all mentioned in the Family Leader vow.

Why should anyone care who Vander Schlong endorses? I don’t care about Nikki Haley’s endorsement of Mittens.

I agree that endorsements show more about the endorser than the one endorsed.

Shux. Please communicate to The Leader that I’m not much of a follower. I’ll make my own decisions.
Thanks and best regards,
D

I agree with you.

I can’t think of any past president that is eligible for sainthood. Maybe some foibles were better hidden than others.

The only thing that will change the morality in this country around...are the individual citizens. jmho

No , he’s an importer-exporter, but he’s thinking of quitting the exporting, and just focussing in on the importing.

Can we compromise on "Vander Plotz"? It's the best this former New Yorker can do.

grassboots.org has nothing to do with politics, it seems.

I would hope that by now, pro-lifers like Vander Plaats would emphasize that the primary concern for GOP Prez candidates is that they nominate conservative pro-life judges, particularly SCOTUS. No Exceptions. No more Souters. I sure don’t trust MITTSter on that matter.

And the Christian community in IA is split among several candidates. That is simply the reality this time around.

It is my opinion that any Christian pro-lifer who is uninformed about the Court is not very serious about the issue.

“grassboots.org has nothing to do with politics, it seems”

I created the website 8 years ago and posted regularly on FR for Bush, but let the domain name run out a few years ago.

“It is my opinion that any Christian pro-lifer who is uninformed about the Court is not very serious about the issue.”

Perry said that he didn’t think it relevant that he “have memorized” the names of the 9 Supreme Court Justices.

It might be useful for people to look at the very long pledge itself.

TFL posted Newt's letter to them as well.

I believe I hadn't heard of "The Family Leader" until the Thanksgiving round table (Huntsman & Romney didn't attend). It's certainly not an endorsement that has any weight for me.

Perhaps tellingly, your source link is running Ron Paul campaign ads against Newt.
