With one week left before the Iowa caucuses, Texas Governor Rick Perry is touting his outsider status in a new ad that highlights his opponents' combined 63 years of congressional experience. As the narrator says, "If Washington's the problem, why trust a congressman to fix it?"

Prominently featuring fellow GOP contenders Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum; the ad reminds voters that federal legislators are responsible for the earmarks and deficit spending that have led to our unsustainable national debt and that the nation needs a leader who will provide real solutions.

I suspect he will. however, he still won’t pull enough support to win.

I agree with the point overall, but didn't Bachmann vote against raising the debt ceiling?

I think Perry is one who speaks of compassion vis-a-vis ILLEGAL aliens.. close the border but in the mean time compassion!

If compassion is forgiving ILLEGAL aliens of their past crimes.. possibly requiring a small fine as "punishment" then

What the hell do you call keeping American citizens in prison for the same crimes?!

Voting against something isn't enough nor is Bachmann's constant claim that she has fought against this or that. A true leader will actually win most of their fights and convince others to vote against things like raising the debt ceiling.

Not difficult to exceed expectations when they're so damn low.

"Robert Ritchie" Perry has done everything but say, "Crime, boy....I don't know."

For the next week we are going to be repeatedly bombarded with articles about how this or that politician is either going to rally from behind and win Iowa or will, at the very least, greatly exceed expectations and therefore should be the nominee. Most of these missives will come from partisans for that particular hopeful. Hoping against hope that their guy may squeak through simply because the writer really, really, really, really wants them to.

But most will be wrong. Even those that wind up being right will be the result of pure, dumb luck. The reality is, at this time, nobody really knows.

What’s the tally on “Perry may surprise us in Iowa” stories? I lost count long ago.

Bachmann is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, not the President. How could she have stopped Obama and the Pelosi/Reid led Dems from passing porkulus?

Right, but considering the fact most of Bachmann's time in Congress has been with Nancy Pelosi as Speaker with a huge democrat majority, it's hard to envision Bachmann actually getting much done. Just trying to keep some perspective here.

“What’s the tally on “Perry may surprise us in Iowa” stories? I lost count long ago.”

About even with the Bachmann, Santorium, Perry, and Paul ones.

Either all these reporters don’t bother to read how they are all contradicting each other, or they are getting paid to run these by the candidates

He didn’t have low expectations when he entered this race. And compared to a commitment to Christian values, hard work and the life long achievements of Rick Perry, your credentials to belittle this man are what exactly? Posing with statues?

Exceeded only by the “hey, take a second look at Perry” posts.

The biggest surprise of all will be when the Perry nuts watch Rick simply smile and drive the bus back to Texas to enjoy his taxpayer funded double dip retirement in full blown hacienda style. Anita’s fantasy road trip will be fulfilled.

It doesn't matter. Early primaries are about getting momentum, not actually winning. Quite a few recent nominees did not win Iowa or New Hampshire.

I know Perry must be doing well, the usual suspects with anti-Perry tag lines are out in force.

Who is your guy and why will he beat Obama?

There's no way Perry beats Obama. The lamestream media will bill him as another idiot from Texas, and there's already plenty of video to make their case.

There is plenty of video of Newt and Mitt agreeing with Obama on issues, never mind Newts affairs, even with the woman who would be the first lady (you know having an affair on his second wife with his current wife). That alone will crush the base's enthusiasm.

Now Obama can paint Perry as dumb but Perry has the record that beats Obama head to head, so what does that say about Obama. Plus I would add that Obama is not a good debater and not a good speaker unless he has a teleprompter.

Here is the narrative

Perry=dumb racist (but has a record that crushes Obama)

Mitt=greedy racist

Newt=perverted racist

Paul=crazy racist

Those will be our choices so which one has the record to beat Obama? Only Perry.
