Come to think of it, I guess I did change my position somewhat. You’ve convinced me that the agricultural issues are not as significant as I once thought. I’ve read numerous discussions on the border fence and have never encountered the idea of canals.

I lived in AZ for several years and am aware of the extensive canal systems. It’s been a “duh!” moment for me. I can’t believe a canal system didn’t occur to me. I guess I’ve been here (TX) for so long that I’ve forgotten about such concepts.

I just recently told my kids a story about when I lived in AZ. Apparently, I said “on irrigation day.” They had no idea what that was, but after I explained it they decided it was “way cooler than our dumb old sprinkler system.”

Yes, that was the implied result of a state’s choice to deport. They must request that the feds take custody and deport the individual.

ICE blamed for Texas parolee law delayThe state has been unable to enforce a new law designed to increase the deportations of illegal immigrants from the Texas prison system amid concerns that federal immigration officials are unprepared to handle the anticipated influx of convicted criminals, state officials said.

Under the new law, which was scheduled to take effect Sept. 1, state prisoners who are granted parole and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials must either be deported or leave the country voluntarily - or risk being returned to state custody to serve out the remainder of their sentences.

The law was crafted to address a vexing problem identified by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, which reported granting parole to some illegal immigrants and turning them over to ICE - only to later learn that they were not removed from the country, said state Rep. Jerry Madden, R-Plano.”………………..

how many liberals are as pro gun as the Governor, who would carry a pistol while running, and whip it out to shoot a coyote because he feared for his running buddy, a puppy?

If Perry were President, we could save on Secret Service costs. He would be protecting them. ;)

The problem is that the Department of Homeland Security/ Immigration and Customs Enforcement/ Department of Justice are headed by poeple who have no interest in stopping stopping invaders at the border and have much more interest in forcing Texas and other States to educate their children for 3 years (or more).
The Governor would not allow the heads of these agencies to shirk their duty and will make sure they have the mission right in the first place.

So, you don’t like the Trans-Texas Corridor? That never got built, and the Governor is credited with stopping it by Rep. Wayne Christian.http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2772684/posts

This country does not deserve a Rick Perry. That's my belief, sister. There aren't enough good people to see what's going on anymore. Thankfully there are a few on FR. Even the media is baffled why people aren't getting behind the only qualified conservative in the race - Rick Perry.

The most important words spoken in many a day were last night by Donna Brazile. "The democrats want Mitt Romney because we think he's the weakest candidate."

This group of republican/Tea Party voters are responsible for their own mess.

It is baffling but history can be made.
