Romney wins a couple contests, confuses the media (again) has "slip of the tongue"[MSM clean up]

It is only fitting that two relatively meaningless wins in the Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll and the Maine caucus for Mitt Romney should rewrite the media narrative created after three equally unmeaningful wins for Rick Santorum last Tuesday. In this yo-yo race, no sooner does the punditocracy pronounce someone is “surging” or another candidate is ”in trouble” than fortunes reverse and the candidate who’s “surging” experiences a setback and the candidate “in trouble” stabilizes. This does not, however, prevent the press from once again over-interpreting or misinterpreting events.

The CPAC win for Romney was especially telling. The press corps, mainstream and conservative, had pronounced him nearly washed up. He gave one of the best speeches of his campaign (explaining why he is a conservative and some of his agenda items), and the crowd greeted him with multiple standing ovations. But the media reports were largely disparaging, fixating on his comment that he was a “severely” (probably a slip of the tongue in place of “seriously” or “solidly”) conservative governor.

"I'm not quite sure what the word 'severely' meant," said Palin...

“You have to have the tea party patriots enthused and energized in order to win this nomination, and more importantly in order to defeat Barack Obama,” Palin argued.

If conservatives are “dismissed and they are marginalized” by the Republican establishment, “they are going to be much less enthused and much less willing to put it all on the line for the GOP candidate in the general election.”

I thought the slip of the tongue was when he said ‘conservative’. Severely with a C usually ends with ‘constipated’.

Rubin is in the tank for Milt. Saying that his performance at CPAC was anything more than fake is silly.

Yeah, I thought she was in the tank for Romney, too. She makes the point that it’s too early to call, yet she has nothing but good to say about Romney.

“and the crowd greeted him with multiple standing ovations.”

Sure. That’s what he bused them in for. To cheer his speech and vote for him in the straw poll.

Rubin is indeed in the tank for Romney. The question is why she is in such tank and why she would sell her integrity (such as it now is) to such a liar?

Romney's performance, by all inbiased reports, was pitiful!

Romney did not win at CPAC...but he did obviously game the straw poll.

"...fixating on his comment that he was a “severely” (probably a slip of the tongue in place of “seriously” or “solidly”) conservative governor."

"slip of the tongue" or Freudian slip?

Definition

Severe: harsh; unnecessarily extreme; rigidly restrained
Expressions with "severely" used by Conservative include "severely liberal" and "severely anti-American," but not "severely conservative." True Conservatives have often referred to themselves as "seriously conservative," but only true Liberals (Democrats/RINOs) use the perjorative "severely conservative."

When you talk out of both sides of your mouth, sometimes you lose track of which side you are talking out of. In speaking with his liberal political associates, how often has Romney spoke about actual Conservatives using the words severe or severely?

In a candidate so well drilled and rehearsed as Romney, the difference between a tongue-slip and a Freudian-slip is something true Conservatives among Romney supporters best contemplate well. They will not be given many such opportunities to discover how he actually thinks.

The CPAC straw vote is meaningless. Ron Paul has won the two previous years.

The only reason they act like it is a big deal now is so they can say Romney won something.

If it had been anyone else we wouldn’t have heard much about it.

LOL!

If you want evidence of the importance of Romney's CPAC win you only need to look at Rick Santorum complaining that Romney's supports showed up and his didn't

When your tongue flips and flops as fast as Milt's does, a slip of the tongue is expected. Whether he is a flip-flopper, or a flop-flipper, he still does not have a grip solid conservative principles, so it is unnatural for him from the get-go.

A lot of people are really excited about Mitt Romney.

Let’s see...Barrack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Michael Moore, the cast from The View, everybody at Democratic Underground, etc...

"Santorum complaining that Romney's supports showed up and his didn't"

BS! Santorum asked if Romney paid both for event tickets and transportation for in his "supporters" (as Ron Paul has done in the past).

Big difference! Don't you think?
