Reports: Jeb Bush says 2012ers are ‘appealing to people’s fears’

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said Thursday that he found it “troubling” that the 2012 presidential candidates are “appealing to people’s fears and emotion” on the campaign trail, according to reports.

Bush expressed concern about the type of rhetoric that the candidates were using, without getting specific or naming names.

“I used to be a conservative and I watch these debates and I’m wondering, I don’t think I’ve changed, but it’s a little troubling sometimes when people are appealing to people’s fears and emotion rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective and that’s kind of where we are,” said Bush, according to Fox News.

“I think it changes when we get to the general election. I hope,” he added, reported wire service UPI.

He also asserted that it was important for the presidential candidates to appeal not only to Republican primary voters, but independent voters as well.

“I think it’s important for the candidates to recognize though they have to appeal to primary voters, and not turn off independent voters that will be part of a winning coalition,” he said, according to CBS.

Bush made the comments while answering questions from the audience after a speech in Dallas.

The former Florida governor has not endorsed any of the Republicans currently running for president.

Key phrase: “I used to be a conservative"

Thank you for saying that, Mrs. Bush. We've all known that for a while. Now go back to hanging out with Charlie Crist and Colin Powell. Leave the republican nomination to us.

I have been thinking lately about the independent voters too.

Who is going to appeal to them most?

There they go again.... trying to seduce those coveted independents away from BamBamKennedy. Must be nice to be living in a bubble.

People like the Jeb Bush actually make me pause consider the 1% vs. 99% argument from time to time. These multi-generational elite have absolutely no clue what impact the disastrous course of our government is having on the American people.

The candidates have been speaking out exactly as most Americans have been the past few years. There is real fear out here, Mr Bush, that our futures are dim and that those of us that work hard and do things the right way are being crushed by the gargantuan government, welfare state and terrible monetary policies of both parties.

Reagan won independent voters in droves. The independent voters went for the republican party in 2010 in droves.

The answer is not to be a mushy moderate. Stand for something, lead and people will follow. Even the mind-numbed independents. This has always been true.

Pandering and being all things to all people leads to close elections that democrats can steal. Standing up, being unwavering in your principles leads to overwhelming landslides.

One of my biggest fears is another Bush on top of the GOP ticket.

Hey Jeb! We aren’t changing and we aren’t going away. You are either for us or against us. Choose, or STFU!

I’m calling Jeb Mrs. Bush from now on. He looks like his mother and has the mushiness of his father. Seems to fit.

Exactly what “fears” is he talking about? My bet is illegal aliens and border control. That is one area where he has made it very clear that he is not a conservative. Why not just say what you mean Jeb instead of talking in vague terms?

“Key phrase: “I used to be a conservative” “

No Bush has ever been a Conservative. They were all Saudi-loving, conservative-faking moderate douchebags from GHWB, to GWB, to Jeb.

Nope.

The only thing Jesse Jackson has ever been right about, and then only accidentally was “Stay out ‘da Bushes”

“I think it changes when we get to the general election.

WRONG! That's when we need to hit him with everything we've got. obama and his billion dollars are going to do no less. Does he think obama is playing nice on the campaign trail every day bashing and blaming the republicans AND his brother for everything? Is Jeb stupid, or what? Has he not seen the ruthless side of the Chicago mob running the country? Was he sleeping when the rats viciously attacked and undermined his own brother while he was President? The last person the candidates need to listen to is Jeb Bush.

There is one and only one comment from Donna Brazile that I agree with: "Stay out da' Bushes".

No more Bushes. No way. No how. I will not vote for a Bush for dog catcher.

A plea to the Bush Family: Thank you for your service. Now go away. And don't come back.

“appealing to people’s fears and emotion” (Jeb Bush) = “kinder and gentler nation” (Geo. Bush I) = “compassionate conservative” (Geo. Bush II).

Big government politicians, pretending to be conservatives.

I am so sick of this family, I wish they would all emigrate to Me-hee-coh.

Jeb, if you’re not afraid for the country you’re either terminally stupid or part of the problem.

A toughie, let me think it over.

The MAIN thing I learned about the Bush family:

Years, YEARS! of trashing a son and brother by a total Marxist who has doubled and tripled the misery of Americans in those same years and blamed every one of his failures on that son and brother, and GHW Bush and Jeb Bush accept an invitation to shmooze with him at the White House!

And now this latest bullshit against fellow Republicans, when he should be lambasting Idi Obama's failures.

Have you no guts?

Have you no sense of indignation?

Have you no sense?

What the Hell is wrong with you?
