If the primary job of the vice president is being the comic release then Joe Biden showed himself the better candidate, but if vice presidents are supposed to participate in intelligent discussions about policy, then Paul Ryan is a superior candidate.

Laughing, smirking and snorting while someone else is speaking is not being “good natured”. It is being infantile.

Prior to the debate with Ryan, I thought Biden was a relatively ‘harmless’ as a old coot. However, with his maniacal grin and outburst, I see him as very dangerous to the future of this country.

sophist
1542, earlier sophister (c.1380), from L. sophista, sophistes, from Gk. sophistes, from sophizesthai "to become wise or learned," from sophos "wise, clever," of unknown origin. Gk. sophistes came to mean "one who gives intellectual instruction for pay," and, contrasted with "philosopher," it became a term of contempt. Ancient sophists were famous for their clever, specious arguments.
philosopher
O.E. philosophe, from L. philosophus, from Gk. philosophos "philosopher," lit. "lover of wisdom," from philos "loving" + sophos "wise, a sage."

"Pythagoras was the first who called himself philosophos, instead of sophos, 'wise man,' since this latter term was suggestive of immodesty." [Klein]

Somebody should take the definition of “sophistry” - and insert a video of Joe Biden ridiculing the very possibility that facts and logic could point to any conclusion other than the one he was promoting.

When I think of “Uncle Joe” I think of “Uncle Joe” Stalin...same difference ideologically.
