The site is screaming fast today - hope that continues!

Indeed it is. If this holds up through the rest of the day a lot of us are going to owe Jim Robinson an apology.

I had the same problem yesterday. I tried using the FR search feature on Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and couldn’t get search results on any of them.

use Google instead - it is very robust

But how often does Google refresh its image of FR? What about searching for similar threads in the past hour before posting a new thread? Would Google pick that up?

Yes.

That’s how they made more resources available.

But how often does Google refresh its image of FR?

When I filtered on the last 24 hours and sorted by date, I got results as recent as 3 minutes ago.

When I click the Search link, I get a blank page (Firefox) or an HTTP 403 Forbidden (IE).

Did you do a Search?

LOL! Good one.

Have you seen or do you know what happened to a poster here on FR by the name John Huang2? Haven't seen anything by him for a long long time. He mostly was posting in the middle of the night for us here in Texas. He was sorta like Drudge, really early on many stories.

He posted Monday morning, but has not posted much at all over the past year or so:

You're right, he had a unique perspective on some pretty early reads.

I’m having the same problem. Can’t get my email on my PC but OK on my Apple IPAD2. Hopefully it’s temporary.

Freerepublic’s search was updated by the very same people who took the easy to use and accurate search that Windows XP had and “upgraded” to the inaccurate God knows what, where and who search feature Windows Vista and Seven now have.

So search is fine, you just don’t know how to index your drives properly. Signed - Mr. Microsoft Vendor

Do you know what has happened to our tag lines?

They seem to be gone from our posts...

Whatever he did seems to have worked, but it also broke the search feature.

OK...it's not just me.

Yes, I'm logged in :)
