Correct. But I too have fantasized about the EC staging a coup, or revolting or whatever ya wanna call it, and declaring their votes for Romney.

After all if 59 precincts in Philly can vote 19,605 to 0 for Obama and nobody even blinks an eye, then who’s gonna care if a few EC votes go the other way.

Right?

The people selected to be electors are diehard partisans--they won't flip their votes over a matter of principle. (They might if blackmailed...which could have happened if Romney had won the electoral vote by two or three votes).

A distant cousin of mine was an elector from Missouri in 1948. No way he was not going to cast his vote for Truman...he was Truman's personal lawyer.
