Kid from a German family with a French name on the English throne. Makes sense.

I like the name.

They didn’t want a King Louis obviously... sounds too French.

But, George is NICE and ENGLISH!

Not so much different than the descendant of Vikings, and the bastard son of a Norman Duke becoming the King of England.

Actually, it does. Since the Conquest in 1066 the throne has mostly been occupied either by descendants of the Norman Frenchman, William the Conqueror, or by descendants of the German George I, who was imported in (roughly) the early eighteenth century to assure a Protestant succession. The last real Englishman to occupy the throne was Harold the Saxon, who was defeated and killed by William the Conqueror at the battle of Hastings.

I know, my old college history major is showing through. Sometimes is just happens that way with an addiction. Pray for me.
