Shocking news has exploded across the blogosphere concerning the Benghazi scandal. According to several sources, it appears that Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett gave the order to stand down during the Benghazi attack, who has no legal ability to do so. The timeline for that specific evening is that the President was briefed on the attack and then he went to dinner. Afterwards, Obama had a two hour long phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Valerie Jarrett, whose official job title is Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, sat in on the phone conversation. She later went to the White House Situation Room where the attack was being monitored by high level officials. (One has to wonder where Obama was at that time.)
The crux of the matter is that for the US to sanction offensive actions against the Al-Qaeda terrorists attacking the embassy, a "Cross Border Authority" order had to given. This order can only be given by the President as Commander-in-Chief. This order was denied and reports are now coming out saying that Valerie Jarrett is the one who denied the authorization.
This continues to show the lack of respect for our laws that Obama and his cronies continue to demonstrate on a daily basis. They pick and choose which laws to enforce and which ones to ignore. Don't have the Constitutional power to issue an order? Well, that's no big deal in the Obama White House!
What's even more frustrating is the fact that American lives could have been saved if we had acted quickly. A team of Green Berets was sitting on the tarmac in Tripoli, Libya, alongside a Spectre Gunship, otherwise known as the AC-130U Spooky. This plane could have unleashed devastating firepower upon the terrorists, but yet it stood helpless and useless on a tarmac as Americans died due to Obama's lack of regard for our people around the world. As usual, the media will do no digging into this situation and the "most transparent administration" sweeps under scandal under the rug alongside the dead bodies.
What's frightening is the amount of power wielded by non-elected officials such as Valerie Jarrett. Obama runs all his major decisions by her and he trusts her implicitly. This is the same Valerie Jarrett who vetoed a raid on Bin Laden on three separate occasions. According to the book, Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him authored by Richard Miniter, Jarrett nixed the raid in January of 2011, then again in February, and yet again in March. Why isn't this news?
Sadly, Valerie Jarrett is typical of those who serve in the Obama administration. She's a radical leftist and has worked closely with progressive liberals all her life. Sadly, her true beliefs are ignored by the media and the public only gets glowing puff pieces about her. Yet this unelected woman whose belief system is anti-American reportedly was the one to make the call on whether or not to save Americans under attack. Chilling stuff.
If true, Panetta and anybody who followed that order should be brought up on charges.
I think there’s a good case to be made that ValJ runs everything and Baraq is just there for the masses to love.....

"Several sources" isn't going to cut it. Unless someone important will testify to it, this can't be proven. It is a serious charge.
That said, it doesn't surprise me one bit and follows what I would imagine happened.

I personally don’t believe this story. The military guys would never accept any order that had to come from Obama from a 2nd hand source like VJ.
Is there any actual proof of the story? Or is this just “reasonable” speculation.
I expect that there are FReepers far more qualified than I to make suppositions on this matter. But it is my understanding that folks on the ground were begging someone to "give" an order to respond. I know it is billed as a "stand down order" which would suggest that somebody gave an order to stop folks from coming to the rescue. But I think it may be that no order was given to intercede (move troops). Only the President can move troops across boarders (I guess).
I am still not 100% convinced this is exactly how it played out that evening (I am more convinced then less though). What bothers me is why not one of the high ranking military people:
1) Followed that order.
2) Did not demand (of Jarrett) that the President issue an order one way or another.
3) Have remained silent on the above (assuming it to be true)
No way those men are going to be intimidated by Jarrett, acting alone.

So what if it came 2nd hand. Only one person is responsible for giving that order. That order directly caused the deaths of 4 American citizens.

Bill CLinton thumbed his nose at such requests by simply playing golf and refusing to give an order. O raises it a notch and has the witch in chief say no. Long ago it became apparent that this admin would act in lawless and unconstitutional manners

We know a stand down order was given...that has been testified to. Who gave it? Well the order itself had to have come from the president no one else had the authority. We know the admin will throw ‘rogue’ agents under the bus so we must assume that O gave the order. VJ is the only one with enough balls to pass along the info
People in the military were fired over this. People tried to circumvent and go ahead and go and were prevented....the biggest question is who should be in jail besides O?
Isn't that why General Ham and Admiral Gaouette were relieved of duty in October 2012, because they wouldn't accept that order?
