20,546,000 people were discharged/laid off from their jobs in 2012. Many are still unemployed. I feel terrible for anyone who loses their job including the 800,000 during this temporary shutdown. We all know that most jobs are not secure and that's a reality and fear every American lives with every single day. Government employees are not more entitled to their jobs than any other citizen. Their plight is not worse than the other Americans who want to work and can't find jobs. Let's be sure that these 800,000 who are temporarily laid off are not considered in more distress than the 15 million or so others who are currently unemployed and struggling.

This communists pric! willing to destroy millions of Americans with his failed and corrupt policy and complain about 800K ass hat government workers that will get back pay anyway. It is just a paid vacation and that lying piece of garbage makes me sick. Also I hear that the deficit is rolling backward. So what! It will roll forward at a huge pace to catch up to the negative when these butt holes get the back pay.

BUMP a great thread title.
Mark Levin has loudly made the same point: The Democrat “mainstream” newsrooms don’t care about everyday Americans. They care only about their God, government.

But his 800k still get paid. These shutdowns are a joke. I say, make them sign up for unemployment.

If all these people are “Non Essential” which loosely translated means Not Required or NOT Necessary.
Make their furlough Permanent with no Pay.
Every department should shake out non essential people.
Meybe the rest of us could keep our earnings and live a little better.

I’m sorry those 800,000 are laid off but I’m not sorry that they’re getting a taste of what job insecurity is like for public sector employees.

Thank you Republicans for not backing down and shutting down the government!

Awesome strategy by the Republican House. I’m so happy the stupid government is shut down. maybe now Americans will realize that government is not needed as nothing is happening even though the gov is shut down. what do we need government scientists doing global warming studies? hell no! do weed IRS oppressing conservatives? NO. do we need IRS auditing Republicans NO. NSA spying on us? . The IRS can’t audit us as long as gov stays shut down. Hold the line Republicans! If walmart shut down then we’d cry but the useless gov can go to hell.

The only thing that the federal government should be doing is the military and border control.

NASA won’t be able to do global warming studies . boo hoo! lol abolish NASA . global warming is a hoax

The EPA won’t be able to shut down coal power plants for the global warming hoax. and that is something bad? no it isn’t its the best things that ever happened .abolish the EPA and the rest of the 1000’s of gov agencies.

The IRS won’t be able to audit and oppress conservatives. the NSA won’t be able to spy on conservatives. boo hoo. lol. thank Republicans . i do

Very well said, jilliane. My husband is a contractor and unable to work due to the shutdown. But, as we talked about today, we want the House to hold the line. Our situation is nothing compared to what so many others have been dealing with. This country has truly reached a “now or never” moment.

It might be worse than we thought....

“Bright” co-worker seriously believed that the House had not passed even one budget this past month.....

Kept insisting each effort was only a piecemeal part of the budget......

The MSM is doing a great job and it seems many have missed the other sources for the real news.

Lots of businesses are waiting to see if the republicans will cave. If they do, millions more will lose their jobs, healthcare costs will go up, insurance costs will go up, less care will be available. The country will collapse.

The 20 million unemployed are still enjoying their 99 weeks of unemployment. The 800,000 have nothing....yet.

As bad as it may be for these workers, I can’t feel much sympathy when I’ve been out of work for most of the past three years.
