Even worse, our system is so corrupted that we don't think twice about a president leaning on the states to yield to his will.

That upends what is supposed to be a federal republic. The d@amned president has ZERO constitutional input to state laws and should be told so. Instead, it is the states that are supposed to consent federal laws.
