Judaism's Sexual Revolution: Why Judaism (and then Christianity) Rejected Homosexuality
Interesting article. I think they articulated their dissaproval very clearly.
The only thing I don’t agree with Prager on, is that he states that the only “central distinction in sexual morality was the distinction between active and passive roles.-—the gender of the object...is not problematic.”
That wasn’t particularly true with the Greeks, especially the philosophers who studied nature and teleological ends like the Athenians.
The Spartans ignored philosophy entirely-—they were the odd ones whom removed boys at 7 from the home and forced them to live in barracks with the same sex until age 30. This was a warping of the child who was partnered with a mature male to be trained for battle and used for sex.
It is not unlike the segregation in muslim nations and is why homosexuality—especially pederasty is ‘normal”. (Walid Shoebat stated that the Saudis prefer boys for sex.) The men in Afghanistan don’t train the boys for valuable trades/soldiering-—they just use them for sexual recreation and they remain ignorant and will use boys in harems when they grow up—as trained.
But most Greek City States would always guard their sons and boys—the elites didn’t want men to rape their sons. They even enacted laws and hired guards to prevent it.
Here is an interesting article on Ancient Greece for those so inclined.
