Forest Park Mayor David Lockhart received a solicitation this week to join Michael Bloombergs Mayors Against Illegal Guns. He didnt just reject the offer.
In his reply, Lockhart ripped MAIG and its founder, calling the group out for what it really is:
I do not support your efforts. I oppose efforts to require private sellers with minimal sales (non-dealers) to perform background checks. I am proud that gun shows are regularly conducted in Forest Park.
If you really want to reduce illegal gun sales, perhaps your energy would be better focused in petitioning the BATF to end its illegal gunwalking. Because of Operation Fast and Furious, Brian Terry was murdered with a weapon sold by our own government.
Your organization claims that the goal is protecting the rights of Americans to own guns, while fighting to keep criminals from possessing guns illegally, yet none of your Coalition Principles further any such protections. One of the principles is to keep lethal, military style weapons off our streets. First, I am awestruck that you would focus on lethal guns. It seems that guns lethality is the point of their design. That you believe a guns military style makes it more lethal is asinine, and however you would define such style does not make guns so designed illegal. Your stated goalsprotecting legal ownership and eliminating criminals from illegally possessing gunsare belied by your specific objectives. What you propose would convert what is currently legal possession into criminal behavior. You may have fooled other mayors, and you may have other fools who agree with your actual objectives, but you havent fooled me.
That your organization was founded by Michael Bloomberg, who criminalized the sale of sodas of a certain size, is telling. It is impossible to believe such a man is really concerned with the protections afforded by our Constitution.
David Lockhart for President!

One of the many differences between NY and GA.
We need someone like this in the White House.
My response was that in Florida the only time you need 911 is if you choose not to own a VPD (Victim Prevention Device) and be like the people who live a place like NYC where it is illegal to do anything more than Call and Cower. Here in Florida we can chose to legally protect ourselves and families.
It's called Shoot and Shovel and is a lot better than Call and Cower, cause as you found, when seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
How did he respond? One of my constant frustrations is people from the NE fleeing the mess that their voting patterns and attitudes caused, yet being too stupid to realize the THEY caused the problems and bringing those same attitudes with them to places like FL and GA. They sh!t where thay ate and promptly start doing it again.
He signed up and posted on this thread yesterday.
Go say hi.
Both he and his wife, judging from the looks on their faces, seemed genuinely shocked at my response, but anything they wished to say was lost in the clapping and “Here-Here” remarks from other homeowners.

And to think, back in 1964 the cry was to stop the import of 5 shot army surplus bolt action rifles, the most evil rifle in the world!
They got the import ban in 1968.
Kind of what I expected. I wonder if either of them started learning anything from the response of the other home owners.
