I heard this wonderful song again recently as bumper music while listening to conservative talk shows this week, and it just feels natural to share with my FRiends. Any comments are welcome.
That is really nice. It reminds me of Jethro Tull and Jimmie Page compositions a bit.
was able to interview the band when I was in high school back in 1984 or 85....its been a long time. They were one of the better concerts I have been to and they were a very good interview. Gotta love backstage passes for free and good connections!

No mention of it on this Wikipedia entry. I have vague memories of them being considered among the loudest, and I think they had the largest pyrotechnics display of any band at the time. A google search of “Loudest Band Triumph” hit a couple of mentions, but no Guinness Book.
The one that comes to mind for me is Blue Cheer, although I’m sure the technology allowed others to surpass them. (How do you beat and album titled “Louder Than God”?)
Rush were (and still are) one of my favorites, and I listen to a lot rock and punk and metal, and death metal, blues, etc. still. Now I feel I’m in the mood for The Band or The Marshall Tucker Band....
Y’all make me happy.
RE: Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, Deep Purple, and even Barry Manilow. // “One of these things is not like the others....”
Scorpions are much more recent - is that what you mean? ;-)
Rick’s Baroque style is fantastic. Thanks for updating the thread.
Blue Jeans was a pretty cool song.
You should see my Metallica T-shirt collection. I got all the autographs of the band on the St. Anger tour (terrible album, but the tour was top notch because they didn’t play that crap). That was 2003.
Oops, I meant Neil Diamond. He rocked in the 70s for a while.
Do you remember their cover of Alice Cooper’s School’s Out?
Actually, the Scorpions pre-date both Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple by three years (1965 vs. 1968) as bands. Individually, the groups' members careers vary widely. Barely Manenough started his career in 1964. I knew the first bit of trivia (big time Scorpions fan from the 70s/80s), and actually thought Manilow started in the 1970s. Was surprised when I looked it up.
Didn’t Barry start out his career being Bette Midler’s pianist in gay bath houses?
Didn't read that far, just that he was in something related to Broadway.
One cannot read your comment quickly and out loud without chuckling a bit.
We could talk about Frank Zappa too. I just moved on to “fine girl”.
Were they really named after the bike? I’m not sure about that, but its good if true.
Nor should they get it. Rush’s body of work surpasses theirs by light years.
Remember April Wine?
We’ll, now your talkin’. April Wine was fantastic too. Now I need to look them up again.
Probably my favorite act from Canada, was Red Ryder.
Saw Tom Cochrane open up for The Smithereens.........went nuts when he played “Lunatic Fringe.”
