My kids have been reading Plutarch off and on during their homeschool years. We’ve enjoyed the biographies. Like every other writing, they were a product of their times. The New Testament instructs slaves how to behave, not condoning slavery but accepting it as the reality of those times.
The biography of Pericles reminded us over and over again of Obama.
That’s great. The tough part is that their generation is going to be totally ignorant of history. They’re the most ahistorical generation since the Founding. They’ll have to find innovative, clear and simply ways to teach what the best human minds and their societies have known for millennia. The Millenials have not been taught that knowledge.
