At least the kids will eat something. With the Moochel menu, most of the food goes into the trash.

“Healthy” meals in the trash don’t help anybody. Moochelle’s lunch crusade is classic over reach. It is no business of the federal government what kids eat.

Unfortunately, my boys did not go to schools that allowed home prepared lunches. However, before they started school I would leave a plate in the refrigerator with carrot and celery sticks, hard cooked egg pieces, cheese chunks, grape tomatoes, grapes, apple slices, bits of cooked meat or chicken.-, etc. They could open the refrigerator and grab a few pieces any time they wished. They were allowed candy four times a year—Christmas, Easter, their birthday, and Halloween. My younger son had his first and only cavity in his twenties behind an impacted wisdom tooth. My older son had his first and only cavity around age 40. I did not nag them to brush their teeth, but did teach them to rinse their mouth with water after eating anything. The adult teeth are mostly formed in the preschool years which are critical for the future strength of the teeth and health in general.
