Younger generations can be forgiven if all they know of war is what they have learned in school or seen dramatized on film and television. For most Americans, the Civil War, the two World Wars, and the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam are events that occurred a long time ago. For my generation, born just prior to or during World War Two, wars have been a constant element of our lives.

Hmmm. Wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that eventually someone wants to control every facet of your life and be the "boss". Human nature says, uh, no thank you. Seems like independent minded "individuals" are slowly becoming, once again, a thing of the past. That's what happens when someone wants to impose "equality" on everyone. Except themselves of course. They're MORE equal. And much, much smarter than us not so bright peons.

I think he meant to say “...we can continue to SHIRK....” That would be more in line with his rhetoric. European Vacation Pt II.

I once read that in the past two thousand years, there may, repeat MAY have been a total of 20 years without war somewhere in the world. My person guess is that the 20 year figure is only that large because the historians didn’t know about a particular genocide in progress in some lesser-known corner of the globe. It is simply a part of life for every generation. Sometimes it happens to your country, sometimes to someone else’s country. The only end for it will be the Second Coming.

Pray for peace, prepare for war.

I once read that in the past two thousand years, there may, repeat MAY have been a total of 20 years without war somewhere in the world. We deduce the possibility of peace because there are intervals between wars.

I once read that in the past two thousand years, there may, repeat MAY have been a total of 20 years without war somewhere in the world. Only because there was no written record of a war somewhere.
Perhaps There was no war during the plagues because there were not enough able bodied men to form up armies.

The anti-war movement wastes its breath on those whose job it is to decide which tools a free people will use when faced with various threats. By taking one obvious option off the table, they effectively put those nations at a disadvantage.
As far as those real aggressors the anti-war movement would also be wasting their breath.

We also theorize the possibility of sane Liberals, but, so far, the evidence has not supported that concept.

Stretching your horizon beyond Europe, you will likely find that there were wars in progress in China, North America, or elsewhere during that period.
