Is Michael Grimm’s 19 point lead an outlier or the “drawback” wave before an election tsunami?

The poll sampled 15 percent, (47/32) more Democrats than Republicans; and this was a fair reflection of the 11th Congressional District of New York. But that didn’t help Democrat challenger Domenic Recchia one bit. The results were devastating for the Democrats’ dreams of connecting the dots and controlling every C.D. in New York City.

By way of full disclosure it must be noted the Recchia is a classic Democrat, “Charlie McCarthy crash dummy” who will repeat anything he is told to say by Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi.

Nevertheless, that is one of the factors that makes this survey result so meaningful. Recchia was a parrot (granted a stupid parrot mocked by Jon Stewart on his show and on Youtube.com) who offered voters in a district that narrowly supported Barack Obama in 2012, (all be it in a Sandy marred election) what national Democrats thought would win this election. The voters are telling him to go away.

Republican Michael Grimm is facing a twenty count federal indictment and will be on trial next February. He won his first two elections by no more than 5 points and had been cut off from funding by the Republican establishment, yet here he is up by 19 points in a heavily Democrat district.

In a Siena College poll conducted over the last few days, Grimm is leading Recchia by an eye popping 53/34 percent. As late as September he was up just 44/40.

A spokesman for the polling firm made this very significant observation, “Last month, Grimm led by 11 points with men, even as the candidates were...

Jon “moderate” Stewart cant understand why a liberal like Jon cant win Staten Island.

Grimm is a desperate RINO who Boehner and Walder wouldnt fund. Better than a true believer RINO.

Staten Island has always been the GOP bastion of NYC. Starting in 1981, the Molinari family owned the district for 16 years. Even so, any GOP rep elected there is gonna be a RINO by Freeper standards.

Maybe he’s getting Democrat crossover votes because he’s under Federal indictment for corruption and Democrat voters figure that, because of that, he must not be all bad.

Rudy Giuliani endorsed Grimm, that’s a big plus.

Let’s put taxpayer money to really good use and build a Guantanamo for politicians. That would be a great way to spend our tax payer dollars.

Grimm is leading with men by 19 points and with women by the same NINETEEN POINTS! The district is 15 points more Democrat. This is a significant result.

Is it possible that Democrats have used the trumped up charges tactic too many times? Tom Delay, Stevens in AK, Scott in WI, etc.? I’m not saying the charges are fake, just that if you cry wolf once too often, people stop believing you.

I am a Staten Islander and Michael Grimm has helped those of us who lost our homes as a result of Superstorm Sandy. No one saw hide nor hair of his opponent. I sure as hell did not. Recchia, Grimm’s opponent, is an asshat. His campaign commercial bashing Grimm stars members of the North Shore Democratic Club. One person in the ad actually was campaign manager Democrats that ran in previous elections. I am voting for Grimm because he actually does something to help the people in his district.

Republicans are even winning where they’re trying to lose. This must be keeping Ditch and Boner up at nights.

Recchia is from Brooklyn. Most of the CD is in Staten Island with just a small portion being in Brooklyn.

Grimm is from Staten Island.

I would add SI has a history of voting Republican except in 2012 when many of the Republican voters were under water from Sandy and didn't vote.

I guess they have dried, are pissed off and ready to vote.

To FReepers, you are a RINO if you are ONLY 97% in agreement with the conservatives.
