We are living in NC, after spending years in DC and Atlanta, and although there is a large Black population here, these folks are generally hard working, friendly and polite. I think it’s the pattern the local leadership lays down that’s important, both for Blacks and Whites. The key is the class, more than the race, and, in my opinion, the history of race relations over generations in a given area. The history of minority murder in Georgia and Mississippi, for example, was horrific. Not so much in NC.
OTOH, during the Duke lacrosse rape case some 95% of blacks voted to reelect Mike Nifong. This was well after the DNA results and other evidence demonstrated it to be a false accusation. They wanted to get those white boys in front of a Durham jury.
