I had to replace the glow bar in a gas range a while back. The part is between $75 and $90 and consumes 800 watts ALL THE TIME THE OVEN IS ON.
I replaced the range with one that uses NO glow bar and the oven can be match-lit during power failures. It uses a sparker that ignites a pilot which warms a thermocouple to turn the flow of gas on. It may sound like a kludge, but it works. Reliably.
