Never trust an Arab. Arabs, for the most part, are Muslims. But more than that, there is no such thing as an Arab. It is an invention, just like Palestinians are an invention. There were people that wandered the desert in what is now known as the Arabian peninsula, but they were tribal and didn't identify as being Arabs until WW I. Plus that only happened on the persistence of the British in unifying the tribes to fight against the Ottoman Empire. Even today, most Arabs identify by their tribe before identifying as being an Arab. Just an aside, beware of what King Abdullah is saying. He is making a big deal out of fighting the Islamic State right now. This is all tribal to him and those in Jordan. It is tribal with the pilot that was burned, and that is the reason why Jordanians are rallying at the moment.

I don't know if Zogby identifies with his tribe, but he does identity as an Arab. In my book, he is not to be trusted.

I think many Arabs (those safe and comfortable here in the U.S.) are Arabs first and Christians second. An Arab-American friend, born and raised Greek Orthodox, became after 9/11 a sort of “born-again Arab.” He even started referring to “white people” as if he were not one himself. I know it’s more complex but I think for some people, “victimhood” is appealing due to the “specialness” it bestows.
