Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky were among the top Republicans receiving high ratings from the influential antitax Club for Growth, which released its annual scorecard of House and Senate lawmakers on Monday.
Mr. Cruz , along with Sen. Mike Lee (R., Utah) and Rep. Matt Salmon (R., Ariz.), make up a select group of lawmakers from either the House and Senate who can boast of a perfect 2013 and lifetime score from the group. Those three, along with Reps. Trent Franks (R., Ariz.), Tom McClintock (R., Calif.) and David Schweikert (R., Ariz.) were the only lawmakers to receive a perfect 100% score for 2013, according to the group.
While there are more champions of pro-economic growth policy serving in Congress than at any time before, its clear that our fight against the big spenders in both parties has a long way to go, Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said in a statement.
In describing the methodology behind its system, the group said it rates legislative actions based on whether they achieve the groups policy goals. These include limiting the size of the federal government, lowering income tax rates, encouraging free trade and deregulation. For 2013, the group counted 31 House votes and 29 Senate votes, as well as provided additional points for other actions taken by lawmakers.
Underscoring the rift between House GOP leadership and more conservative outside groups, few top Republicans are near the top of the list. House

Ted Cruz is an amazing man!
Interesting 3 out of 4 Republicans from Arizona have good ratings ( I think Gosar is about 70 or 75% and still better than most House GOP), and McCain/Flake are terrible.
Flake used to have okay ratings because Club For Growth ignores amnesty.
Is it true you can only get 100% from Club for Growth if you believe the Crusades are a worse threat to the U.S. than al Qaeda?
Ahh...no. But you knew that didn’t you.

That is really good. I always worry about who is going to replace McCain when he retires. I know he is not great but this state has voted for Democratic office holders before so knowing that we have some good candidates that may be ready to take McCain’s seat when the time comes is reassuring.
Club for Growth gives Ted Cruz, Mike Lee perfect marks
