But a truthful President would have to say something like, “the emails exist but contain information covered under executive privilege.”

To lie (i.e., no emails) is a crime, especially in an answer to Congress. He had no recourse but to divulge it because he did not absolutely have complete control over the emails - Her Highness does.

Maybe the emails contain stuff that would incriminate both of them. Thus assuring this is going nowhere.
