“That’s so gay” is as legitimate as the use of the word “gay” by the homoleftists.

Let me clarify.

Language is not static. While words DO mean things, frequently, over time, they come to mean completely different things. Classic example which has many people confused is the verb “regulate” as in “A well-regulated militia” clause of the 2d amendment to our US Constitution. It did NOT mean “heavily taxed or licensed” but “exercised, trained, experienced.”

The word “gay” once meant happy, light, joyful. The fact that youth today have adopted the word as a disparagement demonstrates how silly the homosexuals have presented themselves to the public as much as how words change over time.

No one aggrieved individual or group owns the language. While a long-standing tool of the left is to control language to control the argument, on this one they lose.

Making demands upon culture to keep a definition of a word static so that it remains favorable to YOUR agenda is, well, just SO gay.

The funny thing is, “That’s so gay” was originally started by young people as a way to say “That sucks”, because they weren’t supposed to say “sucks”, and homosexuals, well, you know. Now nobody thinks twice about saying something sucks, but political correctness has made the euphemism into hate speech. But irony was never the politically correct crowd’s strong suit.
