Does Jade Helm Violate Posse Comitatus?
WhoWhatWhy ^ | June 1, 2015 | Ralph Lopez

Obscured by Jon Stewart’s well-publicized mockery of Texans’ reaction to Jade Helm 15—the US Army’s two-month-long exercise across nine states scheduled to begin in July—is the fact that the criticisms may not all be deranged droolings.

The Daily Show‘s Stewart made headlines earlier in May when he ridiculed Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s decision ordering the State Guard to “monitor” Jade Helm. The comedian-cum-newsman called Jade Helm critics “Lone Star lunatics.” But are they? Or is there more to the story? As always, WhoWhatWhy has remained agnostic while asking questions. Now, we provide a few initial answers. More will undoubtedly come.

***

Jade Helm will be conducted in the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana. One other state, Colorado, has dropped off the list, as have at least two counties in Texas, in response to the controversy.

Criticisms of the exercise range from panicked, extreme scenarios, such as imminent martial law and mass arrests, to more nuanced concerns—for example, that military exercises on this scale could desensitize civilian populations to martial law tactics and governance.

What does nationwide martial law do for the left?

We have to remember the underlying goals - to use the State to punish their ideological opponents (ultimately, Christians).

I still assert they are going to unleash the urban zombie hordes and use the police and military to protect those hordes as they destroy the suburban and rural landscape.

Selective enforcement. Hussein doesn’t have to enforce or observe Posse Comitatus if he deems it unuseful. The Courts and certainly Congress have accepted that interpretation. Hussein is already an all powerful dictator. He is ramping up with calculated deliberate speed to not upset the crazy Christians and 2NDers to the point of actual resistance until they are smothered and cannot react effectively.

Lots of equipment has been prepositioned all over the country via those grants of MRAPS and machine guns and whatever else to police departments everywhere. The announced scaleback or cessation of such grants may well be a reaction to the reaction to JADE HELM and a realization that local citizens might get to the prepositioned equipment before the Federales can get to them or police departments might not be so reliable as had been assumed, even with DoJ “oversight” of so many of them.

Like many things in this world, you apparently don’t understand. I was not welcoming ridicule toward me, I am encouraging everyone to pile it upon those spreading this nonsense.

“I was in the Army then. We were training only to protect Federal installations.”

I was also in the Army. It is not true that “it was not the military that responded but the National Guard...” The Guard units turned out first, under State authority (or in the case of DC, the equivalent local authority), but US Army units were soon deployed to reinforce them. As I recall, units from the Airborne Divisions were sent to Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD.

I certainly don’t really trust the Federal Government, especially the one run by the current crowd in the White House. But, no one has produced credible evidence that this is the rogue operation that is claimed. Conspiracies that require hundreds if not thousands involved to remain completely silent do not exist in the real world. All of this is going on inside a number of overactive minds.

What troubles me the most about it is not what I’m hearing others say what they think it is, but rather, what we are NOT hearing from our sons and daughters who are in the ranks.

Precisely my thoughts.

Among a group this size, you'd think there would be active duty family/spouses somewhere who would be willing to lay the facts on the table... but I've not seen it.

I also think there are multiple layers to the situation - anyone E7 and below, O-4 and below, is just following orders and as far as they're concerned, it is a training exercise.

It's higher who knows what it's really for - and they're all political lackeys now, true patriots having been purged from the ranks at those levels. We'll never hear the truth from them.

There was too much going on being a soldier in those days, so I don't recall much that happened outside of what I was actually doing.

I may be wrong, but D.C. is under Federal control. I'm assuming that its National Guard is under the authority of the President, so it would be appropriate to call in Federal troops to back them up. Don't have any idea about Baltimore.

The answer to the question is no. But, what I think is really going on is this: the federal government and those in power know A financial crash is coming. Given what happened in Ferguson and Baltimore, what would we expect the federal government to do when the inner cities begin to burn? So I think this entire exercise is geared towards the crash of the EBT cards and the subsequent mayhem that will follow.

As long as my nose smells something fishy I will trust it.

Anything out of the Lyin King mouth smells to me.

I pray your right about Jade Helm. I will stay aware.

The ridicule deserves to be heaped upon those who think Jade Helm(and Waco) are needed and legitimate exercises of the military.

“No. Training exercises have been going on by the U. S. Military on Private and public land on a routine basis for over 100 years”

However the military has never designated states as belligerents and labeled the enemy as sovereign citizens and tea partiers.

This kind of stuff is also not what the Navy SEALs do. SEALs do sanctioned hits, snatch and grabs etc. They don’t train for large scale apprehension and extraction of American citizens to FEMA camps.

Jade Helm is a practice situation for martial law in the USA. And its not just in 7 states. The Army is running around in the game management area up around Coopers Creek in the GA mountains. Fortunately for GA the militia is watching their every move.

And I’d guess that the Army is watching what the GA Militia is doing, gathering good intel on how THEY operate.

If Jade Helm is in fact what the scare-mongers claim it is, should we not be setting up for the ambushes, preparing IEDs, sneaking poisonous substances into the enemy food supply and causing barracks fires and lot of “accidents”?

Bottom line the military has no business whatsoever war gaming their own citizens. That is what Jade Helm is doing and its wrong, scary and may lead to confrontation.

I've just finished reading this book again—too many memories—but people promoting conflict between American soldiers and American citizens should read and heed:
