For some reason I never got into Judas Priest even though I enjoy their music. There was something that just never clicked with Priest for me like Iron Maiden and Metallica and Slayer did at the time. They are fantastic band for sure, but I think I got a little turned off by their leather/glam style whereas the other metal/thrash bands of the time were just t-shirts and blue jeans and cool by their right. I still get happy when I hear classic Priest in the heavy metal bars though. I used to walk by Budokan every day until I changed jobs in May of this year. That’s a fun place to see a gig. I think the last gig I saw there was probably Neil Young on his Greendale tour. I’ll refrain from commenting on that album, but damn if seeing Neil Young and his band perform the entire play/gig, and then another hour and a half of Neil Young and Crazy Horse wasn’t totally awesome. Tokyo has the best metal / rock scene in the world in my opinion.

Metallica’s instrumentals are some of my favorite. I’ve never gotten into the video game stuff (but I do like the music from World of Warcraft, though its not metal), but I do know a guy, Mirai Kawashima, who did the soundtrack for Final Fantasy XII I think it was. His band called Sigh is legendary here, and a real treat to see when they play their rare gigs.

Why does Sweden produce some of the best death metal yet turn out to be so wimpy?

I ran into Anne at the old Detroit Metro back in the late 80’s. She was wearing a full length Sable coat that was dwarfing her.

You can add me. Loved punk rock when it started, but it got old fast. Wasn’t a hard core metal fan, though I liked Motorhead, Metallica, Ozzy and a few others. Never like cared much for metal bands with ultra high pitched singers. But I generally like most rock and blues.

"I ran into Anne at the old Detroit Metro back in the late 80’s. She was wearing a full length Sable coat that was dwarfing her."

Interesting...

The last time I seen someone get "dwarfed" it was in a movie staring a midget named "Leather" and every time "Juan the pool boy" visited the lonely housewife the swanky music started playing...
