Caveman Like Decisions

This week I would like to spotlight the approaching political arena. Regardless of your political orientation, all of us are about to hear more and more about the stuff we get and the stuff we should fear—and our vote may be the deciding factor.

Fear Mongers We will hear fear mongers warn of dooms day events if we fail to elect certain candidates, and we will hear of a cornucopia of freebies and other gifts that we might receive if we but vote the right way. Unfortunately, politics today is often about the best liar, and that usually turns out to be the liar who is able to get the other liars to follow them.

There will be many polls and they will tell us what song the choir is singing, and of course, we don’t want to go it alone, so many will join the loudest choir. Sound bytes will be shared like spit on make-out hill where couples get it on in the car. Passions will run high but few will really have done their own research in determining what to believe and who to vote for.

Polls One poll will get it right—American’s no longer trust Washington and they want change. The mantra will no doubt once again include that magic word: CHANGE! What are we going to change? Why the system of course. How will we do that? Easy—by working across the aisle. Taxes are too high, babies are glorious, in God we trust, etc., etc., etc. This is what we will all hear in one form or another spoken by folks on both sides and perhaps even by an independent. But what are we to believe?

Sound Bites One of my favorite examples of how sound bites become championed into memes arises from two polls I saw conducted on the same subject. One poll asked the question, “Should poor taxpayers be forced to work two jobs in order to put their children in private schools instead of the failing public system?” The other poll put the question this way, “Should poor tax payers be forced to pay for rich kids to attend private schools?” Clearly the polls are both biased and the verbiage is their method of persuasion. So of course not, poor parents should not have to work two jobs! And, of course not—poor parents should not have to pay for rich kids.”

The issue was one of school vouchers and if you’re like most, you probably did not Google school vouchers or visit your library to learn where the money comes from, how they affect public education, who uses them, where in the world are they used, and what results have been derived from their use, etc. In other words, the sound bite you were exposed to made the decision for you! How sad!

Money Rules The ruling elite have made many statements in the past that insist that the public in a democracy are just too damn dumb to trust with any real power including who becomes their elected officials. Who are these elite? Whenever I use this term I am referring to the money. Follow the money and you will find who’s doing the real ruling.

Caveman Instincts This last week I read a new study that stated in the title, “Caveman instincts may favor deep-voiced politicians.” This article rested on my desk and finally prompted this spotlight. In my new book, “Gotcha, The Subordination of Free Will,” the many ways we are primed unconsciously to make our choices are fleshed out in over 400 pages. Listen—I know these methods and so do they! The elite have spent billions of dollars learning how to plumb your unconscious so that you will make a decision thinking all along that it’s yours, when indeed, it’s exactly what they want. Don’t be taken in this election cycle—please pay attention, become aware, get involved if only to research all of the claims, for if you don’t—well in that process you have surrendered your freedoms and become their pawn.1

Thanks for the read,

Review comments on Gotcha: The Subordination of Free Will:

Where "1984" reached into the future to tell a story of what would happen in the world, "Gotcha" reaches into the past and explains how they did it without you knowing it. This is a great read that crosses all interest lines. If you care about this world, you owe it to yourself to read "Gotcha.

"We are at a threshold with respect to the direction that we as individuals and, on a larger scale, the global world itself may go. That threshold is not so much due to an evolution as it is to a conscious revolution. A conscious revolution is not about violence. It is not about the next thing we can chase down and consume either. It is about critical thinking and mindfulness."

You might want to check out the Caveman Economics part of the book ‘Starve the Monkeys.’

I made my son read it.

Welcome to FR.
