Great but can we still fight as a Superpower or has President Ovomit, neutered the entire Armed Services?

When your country is wealthy and stable, but physically a thousand miles of narrow coastline next to avaricious neighbors like Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina the US Navy can be your best friend. Not sure about their air force, but they have a serious navy.

And photos like that drive the leaders of China, Russia and Iran to insanity. China can’t do it, Russia almost did it and Iran knows if we did it to them they wouldn’t have a pot to piss in afterwards.

But Obama evens the playing field for all concerned.

My first taste of navy life was aboard CVN-73. I had just graduated A-School and received orders to a helo squadron that had already deployed aboard the mighty GW.

The Navy flew me out to Bahrain, put me up in a hotel out in town for a week and then flew me out to the Arabian Gulf. I recall stepping out of that C-2 Greyhound onto the flightdeck, taking in the sights, sounds and smells and thinking, "Well, now I've done it. I'm truly in the navy. This is for real."

Met my future wife in port on that deployment. The USS George Washington will always hold a special place to me.

I suspect that this carrier is older than many of the sailors currently manning it.

Yes. Looks like two single seat F-16s and an F-16B in trail.

I don’t think there is a F16 version with twin engines and twin tail rudders.

Looks like 3 F-16s (single tail) and 3 F-18s (double tail).

The F-16s are Chilean, the F-18s are ours.

Right after they (Chile) bought the Squadron of F-16s they based them at Antofagasta, northern Chile.

I had the pleasure to be on a project there. The hotel was relatively near the seaward take off zone. Sitting out on the patio, sipping Pisco Sours, smoking handrolled Dominicans and got to watch these guys take off in full AB many an evening.

No one in South America is stupid enough to mess with Chile.

Not only do they have an excellent Navy and now Air Force, they have a bunch of Abrams Tanks. As the old East Texas sayin goes, “The Chileans quit school on account of recess, they just don’t play”.
