Rand Paul begins filibuster of debt ceiling increase bill; will last until 1am Friday morning

I know Presidential candidate Rand Paul's campaign is failing but one thing he is good at and that is going after the left and right when it comes to fraud, waste and abuse by our government leaders.

He's started a filibuster against the debt ceiling increase that will last until 1am ET Friday morning. He says, "then we will find out who the real conservatives are"

I will be uploading clips throughout the day.

This is what leadership is about. I for one appreciate Senator Paul fighting for the American People. This law is a disaster.

Okay, but so what?

Also, it’s very interesting how the demonrats never actually have to filibuster, they only have to threaten to filibuster.

But the GOPE makes it own actually do it.

I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen an actual demonrat filibuster.

Please excuse my ignorance But I thought true filibusters had no set end time.

Agree completely. Last night we saw something among the candidates (except Jeb and Kasich) we have not seen enough of-- UNITY. Yes, they have their differences, and none are perfect, but they stood up for conservative principles, aligned against a common enemy, and treated each other with respect. I wish we could do more of the same here when members of our party do the right thing.

That’s nice and all, except Paul actively supported and campaigned for the 2014 reelection of the current Senate majority leader who helped negotiate this deal. When he acts to have McConnell removed as majority leader, then we’ll know he’s serious. This move today is just a side show — will only delay the inevitable by a few hours.

Rand Paul is not my candidate, and I have found him to be less that he claimed to be, as he is devolving into his father’s footsteps, but it is still an honorable thing. Even though it will not prevent anything, it tells the country that there are still those who WILL fight on.

Thank you, Mr. Paul.

That’s exactly what I said in an earlier thread - there was unity. Reminds me of the movie, “The Dirty Dozen.” That was a wonderful movie.

Wow. OK. I actually thought Rand Paul won the debate last night. He got a few votes at the debate-watching party I was at.

He made that mistake about McConnell, and I don’t love his foreign policy—not flexible enough for me, too doctrinaire. I argue with his fans from time to time on this one point.

But he was cool and collected and simply stated the facts about the debt, which is our pressing issue at the moment. Now I am glad to see action. Thank you, Senator Paul.

You are right. Something happened last night. Something brought them together . It was the lying snakes in the media. I really think the RNC was up to something on Trump . They are directly to blame because they approved both the venue and the commentators to argue with the candidates. It is interesting to note that Boulder is a hot bed for socialism/communism in Colorado. They expected to favor Mr. much— ooops —bush but it back fired.
